Description

BimmerLink is the direct link to your BMW or MINI. Using one of the supported OBD adapters, you can read trouble codes or display sensor values in realtime, check the current state of the DPF in your car or register a new battery after replacement. BimmerLink even allows you to remotely control the exhaust flap or mute the Active Sound Design in your car.
READ AND CLEAR TROUBLE CODES
Diagnose your car as would otherwise be possible only by your Service Partner. In contrast to generic OBD apps that read emission related errors only, BimmerLink allows you to read and clear trouble codes from ALL control units in your car.
DISPLAY REALTIME SENSOR VALUES
BimmerLink provides a big selection of values like oil temperature or boost pressure. Keep an eye on all the important parameters of your car with a personalized dashboard.
EXHAUST FLAP REMOTE CONTROL*
Take control over the exhaust flap in your car and decide yourself, whether it should be closed or open.
ACTIVE SOUND DESIGN**
If you do not like the artificial engine sound generated in your car, just mute the Active Sound Design with BimmerLink.
SOUND TUNING***
The “Sound Tuning” option allows you to disable the “exhaust burble“ in cars equipped with the S55 engine (M2 Competition, M3, M4).
DPF REGENERATION****
BimmerLink allows you to check the current state of the diesel particulate filter in your car. Find out when the last regeneration took place or how much ash has accumulated in the filter and start a regeneration with the touch of a button.
CARPLAY ADD-ON*****
Enhance your driving experience with the CarPlay add-on for BimmerLink. Access your sensor values on your car's display for improved vehicle monitoring, all integrated seamlessly with CarPlay for ease of use.
BATTERY REGISTRATION
If you want to replace the battery in your car, this has to be registered in the engine control unit and BimmerLink allows you to do this yourself now.
PARKING BRAKE SERVICE MODE
BimmerLink allows you to activate the service mode for the electromechanical parking brake.
SERVICE RESET
Reset the service display in your car after carrying out maintenance work like a brake pad replacement or an engine oil change.
RESET SHORT CIRCUIT LOCKS
Unlock lamp outputs that were disabled due to a short circuit.
TRANSMISSION ADAPTATION VALUES
Check the adaptation values of the ZF 8HP automatic transmission in your vehicle.
REQUIRED ACCESSORIES
To use the app, one of the supported Bluetooth or WiFi OBD adapters or cables is required. For more information please visit https://bimmerlink.app.

CarPlay App disconnects and bugs out the selector

Networkalias on

United States

Purchased the app solely for CarPlay compatibility and when it works it’s satisfactory. When it doesn’t work, you have to quit CarPlay, reconnect the iPhone app and relaunch the CarPlay app which is very dissatisfying. Also, I’ve noticed on multiple occasions that while using the CarPlay app, the selector window that I use in conjunction with the dial mouse in the middle console will disappear forcing me to use the touch screen or restart the car or my phone. Also, the app never remembers what Bluetooth adapter you connected to last and makes you reconnect every time you get in the car which is annoying.

App Doesn’t Work

WGLatimer on

This app doesn’t do a thing. I can’t control my exhaust valves, reset service reminders, or clear codes on my M850. I’m trying to get a full refund.

DIY BMW Battery Replacement

AskForTruth on

United States

My battery died on my 2015 535i so I called my “not so local” BMW service department to ask what a new battery cost. $299 plus tax. But oh, if you need us to do it the all in price is $750. Yikes. $450 for labor and a major charge to reprogram the battery. So I hopped on YouTube and searched for DIY replacement. Followed “Fix it with Jake” and purchased the Veepeak tool and Bimmerlink app. Bought the battery and swapped it out myself and saved $370. Registered my battery and back to normal.

Easy to reset fault lights on dash

GMan in San Diego on

United States

I had the dreaded check engine light come on the other day. I had a feeling that it was due to the gas cap not being tighten properly however even after tightening it never went off. Used BimmerLink to read the error code and it was the gas cap issue as I thought. Reset with the app and like magic it’s gone. Being a California resident, I have to get a smog check this month to renew my tags and had this light been on, the testing station would not have tested and I would have had to take it into a garage for diagnostics. Save a ton of money doing it myself and it was super intuitive. Thanks BimmerLink for a great product!

Failed to clear error codes

CT Libertarian on

United States

It read error codes from 2007 X5. Claimed to successfully clear them. It did not. Error codes were never cleared even after multiple clearings. It’s worked for another F30 in the past.

The ap is great I had android and just got the iPhone so I had to repurchase. Didn’t see an option to transfer liscence or if that’s an option? But overall great and I can scan for my own codes. Very user friendly. I have an f30 “14 and it works great! Thanks team!
