I never review apps however this app is extremely easy to use and beneficial. Even just the free features are very nice to use. I’m even thinking about purchasing the full version. The developers are also really good at keeping new features coming.

Better Features

So far I’ve been finding this app to be really useful and convenient during my workouts, however there are some things that I’d expect from it if choose to subscribe to Bolt Pro. First thing, I’d like to change the rest timer depending on the exercise. For example, for bench press, I’d like to rest for 4 minutes where if I was to be doing bicep curls, I’d like to rest for only 1 minute. Another feature I wish it had to was to add a tempo for each exercise and an RPE measurer, so that you can vary your tempo for different exercises and track your RPE as a form of progressive overload. I think the RPE tracker could also be included in the exercise graphs so that you can see your growth not just based on increased weight gain but in rate of perceived exertion as well. The last thing I’d maybe like to see in this app was to include some more widgets. I’m a big fan of workout widgets, it just makes everything easier, and I have to say, I chose this app because it had the best widgets out of all the other workout trackers on the App Store. Now with that being said, I’d still like to see the addition of a new exercise graph widget. I think that widget would be useful in a stack, where you can easily see your progress over the last month. Overall, my experience with Bolt has been great, but not good enough for me to buy Bolt Pro just yet.

Paid Usage

I downloaded this app in hopes of having a decent experience with a free version of the app. Generally, fitness apps have a basic version then an optional premium membership which just wasn’t the case. Don’t download this app if you’re hoping for a free membership.

Not Freemium.

No free version of this app. You hit a subscription fee wall when you first open the app. Do not download assuming there are any free features.

Best Gym App

By far the best and easiest app I’ve used in the gym. The only thing I think could be cool would be adding a way to track your weight alongside the daily workouts in month view. Thanks again for a great app and keep up the great work!

Timer doesn’t work when not on the app

The Krimreaper on

I think this app is great. My only gripe is I can’t change out of the app to look at something else, when I set a timer between sets. The timer just stops. So I have to keep the app open. If they can fix that I would give them 5 stars.

Great for planning and logging workouts

Bdudejolly on

United States

Bolt is outstanding for logging and planning workouts. I use it for body weight exercises at home. It’s intuitive to use and very functional, with many options you can choose from to edit and expand your workouts on the fly. It also has video links on the exercises so you can see the right form if you’re new.

Can’t process subscriptions and email is down

Neurobashing on

United States

DO. NOT. BUY! I let my subscription lapse and went to re-up. It’s still pending after days, all emails to workoutwithbolt.com bounce. They released an update right before BF and then went to sleep, presumably without a QA step. AVOID!

THE best workout planner and log

AJ1215 on

United States

This does pretty much everything you need it to, at a reasonable price, and is always being updated with new platform features (the newest being interactive widgets). The developers know how to cram everything you need into this app without over-complicating things. If you lift, get this now. It’s perfect.
