Brilliant: Learn by doing

Why is there not an option for a monthly subscription. There are months where I simply won’t use the app and rather not pay yearly. Or I would like to try it a few months to see if I like it. Separately I do think the price high for the subscription and does price out many potential users.

I’m updating my review, more so of the app rather than the service - I love Brilliant and how fun it makes learning and brushing up on things you forgot from school, but the app does have issues: 1. Battery drain - I have insane battery drain when using the app. I don’t know what’s causing it, maybe that’s just how it is, but it does seem simple so I’m not sure why it would drain the battery so much, it’s like I’m playing a graphically intense video game or something. 2. Still no night mode (which could be contributing to the battery drain as well). The white background color is way, WAY too bright and it would be nice to have a dark one that’s easier on the eyes and doesn’t drain the battery so much. I mentioned this over a year ago and still no news on dark mode. Aside from that, the app HAS approved quite a bit - for example, I’m not seeing any typos anymore, whereas before I used to submit reports correcting their problems/solutions (usually due to poor wording) and now I’m not seeing any of that so far

I am so rusty, so this is helping me sharpen my skills. I’m excited to see how far I can go.

I did great got 1st on the league list after the 7 lessons you get for free, but the cost of this app to me is outrageous. I understand the whole well we put our money and learned to put it all into this app but I don’t want to pay 120 a year to learn. A great first 7 lessons though.

I really like the app. It does a good job of showing you visuals to teach topics. I am doing Advance Math and it is a great refresher on the topics. This app is great but I have found it most useful when paired with an AI chat to ask more in-depth questions when I have doubts. The app is no Duolingo with its social features but definitely better than any other that I knew.

So much better than learning in school, this app teaches you and explains in ways few teachers take the time to do, you can learn from a host of different subjects and the user interface just makes it that much easier to follow along and move around as you like!

I use the paid version on an iPhone SE. love the curriculum, visuals and sounds of the app but it does burn through the battery quickly - phone gets too hot to touch. Typically seems to happen after one or two lessons. Feels like a bug because plenty of games/youtube etc don’t do this to the phone.
