Description

Callipeg is a 2D hand-drawn animation application made for iPad and Apple Pencil (required).

Create shots using the frame rate you need: 12, 24, 25, 30, 60 frames per second...

You will get a fully manageable timeline, within a simple and decluttered interface designed for gestures and Apple Pencil.

Flip your animation with three fingers
Play and Pause your animation with four fingers
Display your floating palette with two fingers and access easily copy, paste, clear and flip options
Select and move your drawings around even through layers
Add as many layers as you need
Select and transform your drawings with the selection tool
Set the color and opacity of onion skin

Callipeg offers different types of layers that allow you to work with multiple contents:
Drawing layer, where you can add sheets, import pictures to your sheets, set their timing, add inbetweens
Video layer, where you can import video clips, adjust their playing speed and break them into sheets (rasterize)
Transformation layer, where you can create keyframes, nest your drawing layers and animate your drawings easily with our curve system
Audio layer, where you can import soundtracks, record yourself, adjust the volume, create fade-in/out

You can also drag and drop pictures from other apps directly in your animation.

Callipeg has a complete brush set including pencil, pencil HB, charcoal, china marker, flat brush, Indian ink, soft pencil,...
And you can create yours with a fully manageable brush settings panel (from smoothing to tip customization and texture).

Choose color with the color wheel, the sliders or create your own palettes for your projects. Enjoy also the color history to never lose a color again.

Callipeg has a fully left-handed interface you can access in the settings panel.

Export your animations to:
.mp4 / .hevc / .gif / .png (including your layers structure if you need it) / .tga / .peg

At the end of the 7-days trial period, you will have to choose between 3 plans to continue using the app.
For monthly and yearly subscriptions, the purchase will be applied to your iTunes account on confirmation. Subscriptions will automatically renew unless cancelled within 24-hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel anytime with your iTunes or Apple ID account settings. Amazing and professional

I’m a professional animator and this app is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Super intuitive, and with all the tools I need to make frame by frame animations using my Apple Pencil.

Has potential

Im using the iPad Pro 2017 and every time I press export on a shot the app crashes. It can only export the compressed project file and not a gif or video. I’m trying to update my iPad to the latest software but I’ll leave the review up if the problem persists!

No other stylus supported but apple’s

Surprised and annoyed that the stylus I use works with everything on my ipad, except for this app. Is this a conscious choice or just bad implementation? Am I forced to buy an apple pencil to use this app, and if so why. And yes I have enabled finger drawing but it still does not work. It works in Procreate and other drawing apps. Such a shame since I was really excited about this one.

Fantastic features, but full of bugs

The app has so many features like transformations, layers, multiple brushes, gestures etc. Unfortunately it also has a lot of bugs - things just disappear at random times. I’ve had selections disappear, entire layers disappear, transformations disappear. They appear back after closing and opening the project but it’s so frustrating and flow breaking. Otherwise it’s miles ahead of any other app.

Fancy, but uncomfortable to use

Callipeg is on it’s way to become a really nice tool for animation. Brushes look and work nice after some adjustments. The look of the app is awesome, taking some inspiration from Procreate. I’ve been using Roughanimator for a while now and it’s been my animation app of choice. Though it looks awful it is one of the most comfortable programs I’ve ever worked with, everything is straightforward in its design. It does what it needs to do and does it good. In Callipeg every task takes time to do, create a new frame, then adjust the timing, but before that I need to zoom in to the right frame to highlight it. Unless you always animate straightahead on ones I don’t see the efficiency. Nevertheless, since it’s such a new program I hope it only get better overtime! Awesome with the choice of a small subscribe fee or full program as well. If it helps contributing to improve the app over time it’s great option as well for the subscriber.

Brilliant animation app
