Crashes

On the trends screen the app kicks me out every time I scroll down the page, I can’t really say it offers much better info than the normal health data on the iPhone, maybe the summary of low, normal and high is useful.

Dodgy numbers??

a_tolefe on

United Kingdom

I have had the app for a few months now however while it’s great as a coaching tool, I wonder as to the accuracy of the information it feeds back regarding heart rate zone during workouts. Heart rate zones are measured as a percentage of 220- YOUR AGE . I noticed that cardiobot does not request this information so how can it judge your heart rate zone during exercise? If the developers can sort that out I think it would be a much more useful application. Thank you

Does it work?

Olivula Firenze on

I keep getting messages that my heart rate variability is in Overload. No explanation from the app what this means. If you’re going to give a advisory info tell us what it means otherwise it’s pointless.

It has lost and does not display the numbers anymore on the trends only the colours not any numbers so it’s worthless.

Misleading HRV interpretation.

The main problem with soybean on

Overall, this is a good app. Where it falls short. Is the HRV interpretation. The app makes the assumption that a low HRV is not good. But we know that HRV is a very complex measurement based on the flight flights response of the body and doesn’t necessarily mean they’re having a low HRV is any worse than someone having high HRV. I am a very active and fit in individual, my resting heart rate is often around 40 bpm mark, I train three times a week, at least once a week I hit 180 bpm on my cardio and I run regularly; I also do resistance training three times a week. My VO2 max is around 44 to 48 which is considerably higher than the average person my age of 44 years old. The app gives me a warning when my HRV drops to around 40ms, this is normally a midmorning where it seems to recover to 80 in the afternoon, often at night it is in the 120s to 160s. The reason why this is misleading is because the app is making an assumption that a low HRV is bad. You notice the Apple watch app that measures your HRV doesn’t tell you whether a low HRV or a high HRV is bad. It tells you what it is. In summary, I think the app needs a bit of tweaking. And The in particular part of the HRV measurement needs to be adjusted as it’s very simplistic and could be interpreted incorrectly with the simple statement that the HRV is in a bad situation when it simply might not be at all. I had decided to remove the app because all it does is introduce more anxiety. This is an excerpt from the website simplyfaster.com which explains in more detail this issue. Why and when a decreasing HRV trend does not necessarily reflect fatigue Aerobic exercise tends to have a stimulatory effect on parasympathetic modulation, which can be observed in the HRV score the following morning. This is one reason why moderate aerobic exercise is often used as an effective recovery modality. However, exercise intensity is an important mediator of cardiac-parasympathetic responses to the training session. A recent study by Plews and colleagues4 featuring Olympic-level rowers found that training phases of high intensity (e.g., above the second lactate threshold) suppressed HRV, while phases of lower intensities (e.g., below the lactate threshold) increased HRV. This is important to understand when interpreting an HRV trend over time. Phases involving moderate intensity aerobic work are likely to cause an increasing HRV trend, while phases of high intensity conditioning with minimal low intensity work will cause

Apple Watch widget

RKVM on

United Kingdom

Recently downloaded the app, I like the app information however I keep getting problems with one widget partial loading (resting heart rate widget) comes up with the heart but no indication of rate, my watch is an Apple series 9 so shouldn’t be a problem, the only way i can get it to record correctly is to keep rebooting the watch and phone which I don’t want to do. Please can you advise what’s required. Following on from my first review I’m getting to grips with this app now, I realise that resting for 10 minutes will trigger the resting widget which in hindsight is logical. I’ve started blood pressure readings which link to my watch and phone although they only show the last reading but that’s ok, cardio is ongoing bit basic but only just started to use this widget haven’t tried Apple Music option with cardio yet but I’ll get there. So a better feel for this app now patients is a marvellous thing . I’ve updated the star rating, not quit 5 yet but maybe one day.

Mediocre app and refund not available

En85cat on

United Kingdom

I purchased by mistake and after few minutes I realised that the paid version is 90% the same like the free version of this app. I requested a refund, as in the UK by law there is a cooling off period of 14 days for any online purchase, and it has been denied. Don't buy it, I wasted 19.99£.
