Almost great

My one issue is the controls. Controls: They are well placed on a iPhone X and up but the touch area is too small not to miss attacks or jumps. I won’t bring a controller on commute. Too difficult to play. And using a controller doesn’t allow to use touch at the same time. Meaning I can’t equip new items or see the map unless I disconnect the controller! Visuals: I’m ok with the font choice. The pixelization is I think the correct choice at least for the sprites. It looks clean. Maybe higher resolution 3D models if it hasn’t been tested? Sound: I don’t have an opinion yet. Mainly played on mute on commute. Other: I really really appreciate auto save, I didn’t get used yet to the equip menu ever though it looks better organized. I’m ready to replay the game when the controls will be enough for the hard bosses

A Bit of a Weird Version of the Original

Dima G. 19 on

I’d give it 3.5/5 if I could but decided to round it up out of respect to the game’s legacy. All in all it’s Castlevania, but I don’t see why they had to re-record the voice. Plus, there seems to be a bad attempt at modernizing the game (menu, new text, added background story - the castle’s name is NOT Castlevania). An option to smooth out the pixelation would’ve been welcome too. I thought there was nothing wrong with the original and if you’re techy enough to install a PS1 emulator on iPadOS/iOS, you should definitely play that version instead.
