- SEARCH ANY PRODUCT: If the best lists don’t have it, CNET’s search definitely does. It’s anchored by the largest tech product review catalog in the world. If that’s not enough, how about lightning-fast autosuggestions powered by natural language processing (NLP), artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Fancy tech words FTW! OMGLOLBBQ!
- IMMERSIVE VIDEO: Quickly learn about a product with CNET’s premium video reviews, which accompany nearly all of CNET’s reviews (in case you forgot by now, there are *thousands* of these).
- IN-DEPTH REVIEWS: Need to know more than the highlights? No problem. CNET’s high-quality reviews are done with hours of research and testing, and our reviews provide you with all that data and analysis, along with clear recommendations with our signature “Good, Bad, and Bottom Line” and rating summary. CNET saves you time and money by helping you find the right product quickly.
- FAST-TRACK PURCHASE: You’ve read the review, compared it against a few others, and you’re ready to buy - nice. You’re a tap away from buying it, and at the best price.

CNET Reviews

No Longer Technical

Tricky Trimble on

Australia

I do remember the days when CNET provided technical based news, tips and how to instructions. Then came the streaming fatigue wars, such as the best moves and TV shows to watch on XXXX, and the subsequent removal of the comments section. Move to today, and we now have “Best Debit Cards for Kids and Teens in February 2024” and “I Used My Mattress Expertise to Identify 10 Mattresses Blindfolded. Here's How I Did It”. Let’s not forget the age of hidden hyperlinks, exactly where you would swipe to navigate the app. Looks like “financial news, like Getting a Tax Refund? 6 Ways to Use Your IRS Money This Year” and “Tax Return or Tax Refund? We'll Explain the Difference” is the norm for CNET now. A far cry from the beginnings, little tech news with paid stories leading the way. Very disappointing CNET.

Hopeless keeps asking to be updated

Orchid Geek on

Australia

I can’t open my newsletters any more and keep getting a message saying “You are using an old version of the App and to click on the link to update it”. Well, did that, tried to open newsletter, and AGAIN got the message “You are using an older version of the App…” immediately after downloading the supposed NEWER VERSION !! 😡 DELETED ALL VERSIONS, restarted my iPad, so NO CNET Apps were on the iPad, downloaded the supposed NEW VERSION AGAIN, tried to open newsletter, only to be confronted with the “You are using an older version of the App, Click Here to download latest version”!!! Talk about going around in circles. 😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬

Continuous Refreshing and Resorting

Tricky Trimble on

Australia

The continuous resorting of the articles and advertisements on the home page has made this new version of the app totally unusable. This even occurs when quickly scrolling backwards with the most annoyed reshuffling occurring when you are reading the headlines of an individual article. It seems the the app knows the expected reading timeframe for each story and is quickly replacing it with an advertisement with intent to obtain an unsolicited click. What’s next, following YouTube’s newly implementation of providing a link so that a users can send themself a direct link to the advertisement. CNET, have look at the feedback that other users are expressing about their disappointment on the reshuffling of the articles. Once again, let’s not forget the multiple articles on the best shows/movies to watch within streaming service over providing unique technically based articles. Your users; no let’s gets this right, your products, are now being forced to use the web version of this once great app with an ad blocker. Time to scale it back and maintain your advertisement revenue instead getting greedy and forcing your products to circumvent your advertisement strategy.

Ads make the app unusable!

Ross & Caroline on

Australia

You can’t even scroll through the articles without irrelevant ads popping up, let alone open an article. I used to love this app, but the ads are crazy. The ads are not the watch 5 seconds and skip type either. You are punished with the longest ads and hidden x.

SHOCKINGLY BAD APP

dh,ddrh6)= on

Australia

Interesting that a supposedly technology reporting business, can’t build, or have built, a decent iPad app that doesn’t take less than 5 minutes to fully load. Worst app on the App Store.

Buggy as hell crashes way too often

V O L C A N I C on

Australia

I used to love this app but crashes a lot and has done for many years and releases, just use their website.

Constantly needs updates

hook1701 on

Australia

Every time I open the app it needs updating and it won’t auto update. It’s a basic browser with some formatting, it shouldn’t change this often

AD Revenue vs journalism vs reader base

Shameless 7874 on

United States

This publication needs to take a serious look at its priorities with its web based articles on the Google news feed. Which is more important, the massive revenue generated by the overwhelming ads that are causing the page to glitch and become unreadable to complete the article or, actually reaching its reader base with digestible journalism? Has CNET forgotten about its roots in journalism in favor of ad revenue?

Weird glitch

bunnyrub on

United States

Love the content, but the headline/featured stories at the top have remained unchanged for three months now, and counting. Reinstalled, etc., but nothing can fix it.

Top stories have not refreshed in months

GMoneyE on

United States

Quickly becoming unusable. Last top stories are from late February.
