CTV News: News for Canadians

I won’t speak of the content that is reported, but rather the App itself. The App is full of bugs. Every video requires you to watch 3-5 ads, but will often reload the adds rather than the requested video so you are forced to watch twice as many advertisements. This is doubly irritating when the ads are unskippable- which is more often than not. Other times, articles and videos simply won’t load, leading to error pages or unplayable videos where a refresh of the page doesn’t fix the problem. As such, I am OFTEN forced to search for articles online that I’m interested in but cannot access through this app, turning instead to other news companies and broadcasters. This app would be great if it worked as intended, but as it stands (July 2024) it is too frustrating to use consistently.

The app is great and fast. Very organized as well.

The massive videos that are forced on users when they open any news article ruins the reading experience. Stop forcing people to watch your videos when all theu want to do is read news articles

I’m deleting this news app because it is a major frustration reading any of the items due to the sentence I’m reading suddenly jumping ahead a page or back a page as the annoying advertisements pop in and out. No other news app does this.

There is no way to personalize the appearance of the pages. You only offer light/dark options, but you do not provide for font SIZES to be personalized. Try to contact the tech support through the app and you’ll find a blank page. It takes sleuthing and persistence to locate any customer support resources. I am a very discontent app user.

Such a shame this app is so poor compared to any other news app. It just spins or goes blank when you click on a headline 70% of the time. Despite reloading the app, rebooting phones neither my cell or my friend can get this damn app to work.

It’s super annoying to click on an article to read, then you just get started and ads keep popping up so you have to keep strolling to find your place where you were to actually continue reading. And this happens a few times in the same article.
