Tutorials good but app is a bit clunky

davew9999 on

The tutorials are good but the app isn’t great. For example, trying to exit the app by scrolling up from the bottom usually just scrolls the game list, there is an art to get it to work. There are some other little niggles that make it not very polished or app like

Some tap detection problems

Mperetti on

Downloaded this to learn Tiny Epic Dungeons. It took me many tries clicking on the number of players to get through that screen. Finally did it. When to check out Terraforming Mars The Dice gane, same problem! Devs, please.

Ads 🤮

Roopy1 on

Nice idea and I was just getting in to the flow of learning how to play Dorfromantik and then all of a sudden it starts playing one of those stupid cheap game ads that go in forever and you can’t skip. I would happily pay a small fee if we could get rid of the ads but there’s no option for a “premium” version.

Some hit, some miss - overall not bad.

Dized seeks to provide an interactive tutorial. The tutorial for Tokyo Sidekick, which is the one I used, was good in most respects - it covered setup and rules very well. There was a downside, sadly - the voiceover was clearly artificial and robotic and read out any word in capitals as individual letters. It was also very repetitive, repeating the same instructions over again on each use, with only a few repetitions being cut. The other issue I had was with registering an account, where I received an error message when validating my e-mail, although the validation clearly worked in the end. Despite my criticism, I think it taught me the game rules well, and I was glad to have it along for my first playthrough.

Used to learn Munchkin

ChrisBVVK on

Certainly helped alot with learning to play Munchkin. Better than going through the rule book!

Not quite there yet

This is a great idea but keeps crashing. Whenever I try to go through the Robinson Crusoe tutorial, the app crashes after a couple of minutes. I think the concept is great, just need to squish a few bugs.

Like the concept

tjtommytj on

Love the concept, and think this is something I would use regularly instead of the rules books with the way it’s set up. However, there is no way to search for the game you’re looking for which ultimately puts me off the whole app. I can’t waste time scrolling through games to see if something is there, an app built to save time on game rules should do just that, by adding a search bar. Good luck, I’ll keep checking back for updates.

This is how to create a companion app

mymya on

This review is based on my experience of using it with a copy of Ice Cool with 2 kids and never having played the game before. On that basis this app is a masterclass on how to present, configure help people play a game they haven’t played before. Well put together and thought out it takes you through everything from how to set up the board to playing through the game. It works by you entering all the details about the game you are playing - number of players etc - then takes you step by step what to do so we could complete our first game. It even covers those rules issues in a sequence that you are likely to have happen during the course of a game. As I said at the start of this brief review - a masterclass in how to do it right 👌

Still buggy

Rotten ICE on

I submitted a bug report for the Kingdomino before the Kickstarter and it’s still broken, nice idea but poor execution has lead to it being a nice score tracker and a fancy collection of rule books.

Great idea, pot execution

JackyBoy II on

First of all, forcing landscape? No thanks. The first game I selected the rules for also gave me too many options, if I am playing a game fresh then I have no idea what I need to be clicking on, give me a “click here first” or basic overview. It’s also quite laggy.
