Disconnects and missing color spectrum

Jen Gen on

United States

Update: -1 more star. After many weeks of use with this “redesign” update, I am often experiencing my cup not maintaining a temperature when I pour my morning coffee unless I reconnect it to the app again. I am frustrated by this inconvenient, as it used to keep a consistent connection and automatically kept the last used temperature for any liquid I poured in—it was so frictionless and set my expectation for the product. Since I reconnected yesterday, my mug hasn’t died nor was it—or my phone—rebooted, but it still needed to be reconnected to the app again today. I’m not sure what’s contributing to the frequent disconnects other than the new software, especially since many others are having the same experience. — The update is pretty and the haptic is fun, but the user experience has changed for the worse. I used to be able to set my LED color from a gradient spectrum, but now there is an extremely limited preset of colors, none of which I like. I like a very specific hue of purple (indigo), and the only purple option they give outputs as magenta. The majority of the available colors are shades of pinks and greens. Because I used to be able to select any hue, having a limited selection feels like a downgrade, and it makes the device less personalized. I feel less attached to this product. That is not a good for Ember or its long-standing users. I can no longer tell that the Health caffeine logging feature is active. Before the update, the icon was an outlined heart (inactive) and would change to a solid heart (active) when tracking. Now there is no indicator. I don’t know if it’s tracking. I’m afraid to touch the health icon again in case it double tracks. Very poor user experience. However, I checked my Health App and confirmed that it did record the caffeine intake. Most of the real estate in the app is given to recipes and education. The home screen is 60% recipes / education and about 15% your mug (if you have one, perhaps it’s more if you have paired multiple). A third of the navigation bar is also for recipes / education. I like that these articles exist, but the prominence feels strange to me. I don’t think to go to my mug app for recipe ideas or coffee and tea education. The articles are like blogs, showing published dates and with “save” and “share” functions, but sharing the articles links hard link to the article in the app. Instead of being a platform-responsive link, if you send this link to a friend that doesn’t have the ember app, or o

New version is much worse

The old version would auto connect to my mug without opening the app. The new version requires me to open the app and tap the mug I'm using.

Where is the Apple Watch App??

jimmydx on

United States

Why has the Apple Watch app been removed? I understand it was 100% reliable, but when it established a connection it was very very convenient. It does seem the newest update made everything a bit for reliable, but at the cost of the Apple Watch app, which is a big shame. Additionally, this app needs Lock Screen widget support, and not to mention the need for Watch complications.

Give is control of the start temp!

Stone804 on

1). You RAISED it from 100 to 105 degrees so now I’m CONSTANTLY having to monitor it and keep turning it on again because when I add milk it cools it too much and won’t heat past 105 before shutting off… Give us control of what the “auto-on” temp is or whatever you call it. 100 was too high, I want it at 95 or even 90°F. I know there’s hot places in the world but where I live it’s NEVER going to hit 90° naturally. Just give us the option to adjust the start-temp PLEASE. 2). Also: STOP RESETTING OUR MUGS WITH EVERY UPDATE!!!! I’m so sick of having to add my mugs all over again and all my custom settings. Just have it sync to the cloud so we can retrieve the old settings. Let us ORGANIZE our drinks, I can’t move the coffee to the top and that’s annoying. 3). Where is the watch app?? I don’t always have my phone and now I can’t re-start the mug with my phone when it won’t heat up. What are you even doing over there??!! 4). Bring back the auto-reheat if it sits for 2 hours then goes cold. It used to be when you tilted it, it would realize you were still drinking and re-heat. Now I have to go back into the app AGAIN and start it up and HOPE it makes it back to 105° before it shuts off so I’m going back in THREE TIMES just to get it to stay on… infuriating! This is simple stuff, I don’t understand if you have ever run a test with real people outside the lab but you need a survey asking us what we need, because you clearly don’t use your product outside of a controlled lab.

LED color and temp time

The battery for the mug dies within 30minutes-1hr of run time. The LED color changes to your preferred color but immediately changes back to standard bright white LED.

Mugs are worthless with recent app updates

dactyl1301 on

United States

Recent update broke my regular mug and travel mug, version 4.3.1 didn’t fix it. Both mugs are malfunctioning and now only detect liquid/maintain temperature while actively on the charger. I loved these mugs and felt justified in the cost for years, now it’s exactly the same as a $20 warming coaster.

Re connecting constantly

Verysmartengineer on

Mug doesn’t stay connected to the app even when the app is updated. So yeah. it’s really just not working. Use a ceramic mug and the microwave instead of this.

Login issues

Development team! What’s going on with this new version? The app log me out every time I open it. Please row back the previous version. It was much reliable and simple.

Is it on, is it heating?

Mikeui on

United States

I really enjoy using the app, but it desperately needs to be more clear about whether the mug is actually heating. Mornings are busy enough without the added frustration of pouring my second cup of coffee, waiting for it to warm up, only to find out the mug has turned itself off and isn’t heating the liquid. When I go to the app to turn it back on, it’s frustrating that the mug doesn’t automatically realize it needs to heat. Even worse, sometimes the app fails to confirm if it’s heating or not, forcing me to restart the process multiple times before it actually works. This could be such a seamless experience with a few improvements, and I hope these issues are addressed soon. For example, if you manually turn the mug on from the app, it says “on” for just a moment and then it says “off” again. That is confusing to the user and should be more clear. Example, mug is heating or mug is off.

One of the worst apps out there!

Munibinam on

United States

I have had multiple ember mugs but all of them have failed to connect to the app after wasting hours and hours resetting, deleting the app and reinstalling, creating different accounts etc. Also, the customer service is non-existent.
