When paired with a compatible Garmin kid’s wearable device, the Garmin Jr.™ app¹ is a parent’s resource for keeping track of kids’ activity² and sleep, managing chores and rewards and encouraging 60 minutes of activity a day.
With an LTE-capable device, parents can also stay connected to their kids with text and voice messaging features. They can track their location on the map in the Garmin Jr.™ app, set boundaries and receive alerts related to those boundaries. Your kids will be only be able to communicate with the people you add as guardians, caregivers or friends in the app.
The Parent Helper
With the Garmin Jr.™ app on their smartphone, parents can:
• Get detailed statistics of their child’s activity and sleep.
• Celebrate personal records, including steps and active minutes.
• Assign tasks and chores and reward your kids for a job well done.
• Manage your child’s device settings, including goals, alarms, icons and display.
• Create challenges to encourage the whole family to be more active.
• Connect with other families and compete in multi-family challenges.
• Invite up to nine guardians and caregivers to your family.

• Get notified when your child leaves or arrives at a family boundary.*

Good but would like to see additional feature
Additional role to have permission to only message the child and not being able to see location.
Great way to connect without a cell
Love that I can see where my kiddos are and they don’t have to have a cell phone. No worries about screen time or being distracted by a device. One small complaint is that it is a good five minutes in delay for messages and to track sometimes.
When it work its great…
Sometimes it work great but mist of the time the location not working (try again) and we cannot send any messages. When it stars to work again you received all of the messages… for the price (150$ for the watch and 179$ for the apps/year CAD) is very dessapointing. Need updates?!
Unreliable
When it works this app is great. You can see your child’s location, exchange massages etc. But it also fails to deliver messages, can’t update location and doesn’t sync quite often. It is extremely frustrating. We try to sync, the watch acknowledges sync completed and then immediately there after fails to receive message and have a banner that says it needs to sync with the app.
