1. The ad on the page stop the music if you are playing the music from the same device 2. Not possible to turn off personlized ads - not GDPR complaint
Ad stops the music
Genius now comes with video ads that stop the music you’re listening to as you follow along to the lyrics. Ruins the whole experience!
This app is a slog to use, I’m using iPhone XR it shouldn’t take 10 seconds to load every annotation. Using this app also makes my app hot as frick, if I’m listening to music it sometimes pauses my music (the ads do this i think, any app doing this would annoy me but this is an app for reading LYRICS) , also almost every time I click an annotation I get a pop up ad (It’s already riddled with apps between paragraphs and banners everywhere). This app is probably doing a lot of useless stuff under the hood collecting data or it’s just poorly coded. Just typing in the search bar is laggy and sloggish. I still use it a lot because I’m interested in the meaning of the songs I listen too but the experience is just so bad every time I will uninstall it. Using this app makes my phone feel 15 years old it’s really that bad and slow.
I have used the Genius app for years, but today I tried to click a bit of lyrics to get an explanation and got a timed ad running. Immediate uninstall on my part. The web version is much more well behaved.
I use the genius site all the time due to the content and I’ve downloaded this app twice. Both times I’ve had to delete it again as this app is bad beyond belief. The app stops the music, irrelevant stuff keeps popping up while I follow the lyrics, and general user friendliness is extremely low. A travesty
Doesn’t work for iMessage anymore
This application gives zero choice when launching it. Either you opt-in to tracking/sharing personal data within the app or you are prevented from using the app. Nor does it help to set privacy preferences in the browser version. These are not carried over to the app. You still must blindly accept. This is in clear violation with GDPR which says that one must be given a choice and the default must not be to opt-in to all tracking. If this app is not able to operate economically in EU and other areas with reasonable and non-exploitation privacy laws then the app should not be made available in those regions, rather than be non-functional.
Why did you remove the quoting system? If you bring it back it will be a 5 star.
