Glass has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 89.99 $.
I love Glass, simply because it offers a beautiful, minimalist interface, an ad-free feed and EXIF data alongside each photo. It’s a very calm and thoughful way to enjoy images. Frankly, it’s what Instagram should have been. I don’t think the overall presentation of the app needs to be changed much, as too many extras could overcomplicate or clutter what is already a fantastic service.
That being said, on profiles (in the app and on the Web) it would be cool to offer some more options for customisation, such as filters for categories, camera and/or year. That would assist with navigation as one’s archive builds over time. While descriptions can be added, there should be support for alt text, as descriptions don’t always spell out what’s in an image; I’d even suggest making it mandatory for all users to enter alt text to ensure full accessibility.
Since the app is already on Windows, in the long run it would also be great to see it as a native Mac app and it would *really* shine on tvOS. Large images!
Wonderful interface
I started using Glass because of its wonderful, fluid interface on iOS. The app is simply a pleasure to use, and something I aspire to in my own work.
After using glass for a while, I started to pick up my SLR and take meaningful photos again. A couple of years later, I've upgraded my camera hardware and am taking my rediscovered hobby a bit more seriously. Love this app & community.
One thing I'd like to say for the decision makers at Glass to hear: I see there's a (very good) web version that I can use in the browser. I see that web version adapted/wrapped for use on other platforms. Please keep the iOS app the way it is. The interface is delightful.
A worthy challenger
While this app has yet to reach the momentum of Insta, I hope it ticks away quietly and becomes a good place for great photography.
Could it be….
…..a genuine replacement for the Instagram we used to enjoy? I sure hope so
What’s The Point?
I’m a semi professional photographer and online content creator and nothing here makes me want to spend $8 per/month. The business model describes problem solving that are non issues for 95% of catalogue owners anyway. Also, I’ve read and listened to so many comparison to Instagram like it’s the only free option. ITS NOT…there are a multitude of free/other options and they don’t charge the creator monthly fees.
great idea not thought through
Glass wants to be a proper platform for creators in the photographic space - where they pay instead of ads and selling your data etc.
one problem, if you are a consumer of photos, wanting to follow great creators, find a photographer to hire, buy a print or anything else - well you have to also pay $8 a month.
i don’t even want to post a photo.
so ultimately it is a terrible platform for creators, the only people who will see your work are your peers in a circle jerk that helps you get nowhere.
Puts the focus on the work
Beautifully designed app that puts the focus on the work over everything else. My daily dose of photographic inspiration.
Love This Community
Look forward to more learning about Glass.
Amazing place no ads
An amazing place for photographers and help them share photos without ads or distractions like ads. No photo upload limit helps and also no compression on photos.
Amazing app 5 stars. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Paying to post photos?!
It seemed exciting but 40$ a year to post photos on an app?! That’s not really user friendly seeing any other social media is FREE
