Gameplay, Grafik, Steuerung - sensationell! Hammer Game.
Someone disappointing for the accolades that it had.
I’m a pretty big fan of premium games, I’d much rather have something without ads or annoyances and pay a little bit of money for that than the pay to win trash that is roaming around, so when I felt like I needed a new game, took a look at Grimvalor. Looked super good from the trailers, love soulsborne games, massive fan of those combat systems, love dark fantasy, looked to be super good. Lots of positive reviews and a game of the year award from Reddit. So I was quite disappointed to find out that the game was actually much worse than expected. It’s a souls-lite, so it’s obviously a difficult. Nothing I can’t handle though, I’m fairly experienced in these types of games. A lot of people complain about it but with some practice and trying it’s fine. However I can’t really find anything that the game does very well. Gameplay isn’t great. The combat system feels very simple and not well thought out. The enemies in the first two acts/chapters all felt like reskins of two basic mobs. They either have a slow and simple melee attack that can be evaded with a quick roll or they just shoot an arrow that can likewise be dealt with just as easily. The combat consisted of mainly spamming the attack button and rolling every now and then in the massive time frame given. The poor enemy variety made the game sort of boring, compared to similar games like dead cells which have tons of highly unique enemies with lots of different attacks and ways to deal with them, the combat severely suffered in this aspect. There aren’t really a lot of weapons, and you can’t really “mix and match” stuff to create epic builds and combos. The combat was juiced well and hits felt strong and satisfying but due to the aforementioned issues I didn’t really enjoy it. The art style is pretty good, same for the music, but that’s about all that the game has going for it. Story was really disappointing. Felt like it was written by someone with no experience, the dialogue of the people you meet doesn’t feel deep and their personalities are more shallow than that to a door in Undertale. There wasn’t a lot of lore in the place, no looming statues telling hidden stories, few cutscenes, little environmental storytelling, little face level storytelling. Would have loved more characters that actually felt better written, more lore about the plethora of different places, and just more story in general. Disappointing for a souls-lite and many similar games like dead cells or hyper light drifter do it

Brilliant level and sounddesign. Stunning graphics. RPG elements and character levelling keeps you entertained. No microtransactions, no ptw. Its quite difficult but it keeps you motivated. I love it! Lits out o7 !
