I tried this app years ago as a free version with I think one country map and then paid for the Pro version. It has been great to use, not as fancy as some of the expensive mapping apps but as a straight forward offline map app it is great. Wherever I travel in the world I download the country maps and they have been very useful. They are always up to date and very detailed. There are a lot of options for online maps too which are very good for hiking. It is my go to app when outside the UK and a back up in the UK.
An outstanding app; robust, reliable and very versatile. I’ve been using this for many years now as it’s better than anything else. The maps are clear and have the added benefit of showing topology which makes them easy to read. You can record your own track and share it, or download a track and follow it, or use the excellent in built navigation functionality. Being able to use the maps offline is another major advantage, especially when using the app in remote locations. And also being able to sync the folders, tracks and data across devices is also really useful. The user support is quick and helpful too, but the app works so well you won’t need to call on their help :-)
I never pay for apps but did for this one. I use it on planes to figure out where I am. It sometimes takes a while to lock on but almost always works especially on the low cost 737/319 aircraft. Not sure how well it would work on a 380 but that’s not down to the app
I have had a couple of other OSM-based mapping apps, none of which were entirely satisfactory. This one is! I use it in tandem with OS maps for the UK: as this has vector maps it is easy to have a map for a huge region (like the whole UK) on the device, which is a big win.
Perfect for offline map coverage. Great for walking and cycling. Five stars from me
I used to use another mapping app (which the developer wrecked, for some bizarre reason). After a lot of research on all of the alternative apps, it was clear that Guru Maps was by far the most capable. None of the other available apps have such a comprehensive set of features (offline maps, bookmarks, routes/tracks, synchronisation, kml/gpx import/export, folders with files structure etc.). After an initial trial of the free version, I paid for the pro version. Money very well spent.
Maps.me now won’t accept KMZ files. An unbelievably annoying move. But now on Guru and is way better. Devs improve gently don’t do what others have done and forgotten your core customers. We love it, don’t do huge upgrades please x
This app is worse than useless. It’s orange lines on a black screen and I can’t find any of the addresses that I put in. Unfortunately, I forgot to cancel before my weeks trial was up so have wasted my money completely.
Not now it’s very very windy high up on the Downs.
