Music you can trust, improvable app

Stephane728 on

2024-05-01 v1.18.4 - This app would deserve to be better known. The essential thing to love about it, it is being able to purchase quality sheet music from renowned & reliable publisher Henle Verlag at an affordable price (as you can buy individual pieces out of larger collections). Fingerings are sparse (not for the beginner pianist) but often usually there, and you can use the app to annotate and adjust the fingerings to your liking. The workflow is flexible: you can keep the scores in the app to display the music as you’re playing the instrument (I found it acceptable), or you can also export to a PDF file (with your fingering adjustments) that you can store elsewhere in a stable location for safe keeping, and display it in another app (like forScore) if that makes you feel safer. That said, the app would need some improvements (like I shared with Support). 1) The symbol for piano finger substitution is missing (the one that looks like a horizontal parenthesis), we do need that symbol for fingering annotation please. 2) The finger editing feature is quirky, a bit buggy, as sometimes stubbornly it won’t let you remove provided fingerings (if you want to adjust them) until after you’ve tapped frantically everywhere at random then it will let you do the thing. It can be frustrating. And also there’s a built-in video to demonstrate the feature, but the video is outdated and doesn’t properly reflect how it works. 3) It would be useful to easily duplicate annotation layers for backup and versioning, so that we could revert to a previous version in case we make unwanted annotations that we cannot cancel (like deleting fingering or symbols and having a change of mind). 4) When buying individual pieces, they lack a title and composer name in the front page, despite the large blank space before the first stave. It would be nice to be able to add title and composer there in a more elegant way than just annotating the first stave with text which is constrained close to the stave and looks awkward.

Can’t edit fingering

Stephane728 on

I can’t go into the Fingering Edit mode that is demonstrated as a video in the Help menu. When I long-press the music sheet, it goes into full Annotation mode (with all tools on top of the screen) which does NOT allow to remove fingering as shown on the video, only ADD new ones - which is a problem if you want to change only a little part of suggested fingering layer provided by Henle without starting over from scratch. How can we solve that, please? Your help manual says “What if I delete a fingering symbol in a fingering layer provided by Henle”but I cannot find a way to do that. PS it would be good to have access to some customer support. By the way this application creates quite a dilemma. I trust the quality of Henle sheet music that I used already when I was a child some 40+ years ago, but I’m yet undecided whether I should trust the app itself and invest so much time making annotations in it, or else just print to PDF and annotate elsewhere in a publisher-agnostic app that is more widely used like forScore (and perhaps a wiser decision longer-term). I encountered a bug when I added an annotation (l.h. r.h.) just for the sake of trying, but the tools would not let me move or erase the annotation. I had to delete the whole annotation, which is not a good sign that the app would be future-proof regarding bugs and stability.

Honteux

Erreur d’essai gratuit!

vi.d.a on

Excellent

MasterJouet on

Enough for real pianists who wants scores in one tablet.

Très décevant

Art_hur on

JPS1827 on

Buggy version, please revert

chrrev_asia on

the previous annotation mode worked much better in my view, this is bug-ridden aside from the fact that previous text annotation can’t be edited... And entering text if zoomed in creates all sorts of trouble. A disaster in my opinion.

Affolant

Update please

Great application, but since you were adding the japanese, now I have it only in Japanese...impossible to change the langage!
