Cool App

ndkznskd on

Easy to use but has everything I need. Perfect for paper book lovers. Had some trouble signing in last week, but later found it was a network issue.

If you don’t want to mark your books

I use this app every time I open my books. Never crashes and very convenient. Thank you team.

I love this app!

It’s simple but does what you need it to. My only issue is when I want to share a quote, at the bottom there are 6 colors, but there are actually 8. Black at the very beginning and Navy blue at the very end. I’m not sure if it’s just mine but I can’t scroll to black or navy blue. Not even a big enough issue to affect the rating but I just want to see what Navy blue looks like

Terrific way to capture highlights

Capturing passages from printed books has never been easier. Fast, great built in library of titles, and the markdown export allows me to store the highlights for each book in my PKM app. A+++++

Amazing

The best app! Let’s you take notes on physical books instead of just digital ones, plus tag the highlights/notes and everything

Fantastic app!!

I love this app to be able to take all my physical book marks and export them to be able to use them in a digital format!

What an amazing resource!

Everything about this app is spectacular. It’s amazingly simple, and quite quick to understand. The ability to SCAN QUOTES?!! I have never enjoyed books more—now I can easily keep many quotes from them with me, and even use the widget function to see and enjoy them regularly!!

Disappointed

Provincetown1234 on

I tried to use this several times with iPad and iPhone. I found the functionality was not workable and have begun to use the Notes app on my iPhone instead. I have problems with the camera capture, the text comes up with a ton of typos, or a single word left justified rather than a sentence that runs across the page. it interacts weirdly with the iPad camera, requiring you to turn the iPad awkwardly to capture text. Do not recommend.

absolutely amazing app (with just a few missing features)

This is an amazing, clean, well designed, easy to use, and useful to have app; it’s a benchmark for what most apps should be like but come nowhere close to achieving. Kudos to the developer for a job very well done. The ability to organize notes by official book title, grab multiple highlighted sections of a page all at once (instead of one by one), link text to specific page numbers, and add individual notes are all incredibly helpful features. The ability to cut and paste multiple disjointed sections of text at once makes this app vastly superior to apple’s native “live text” feature (as well as any microsoft office product). It’s a simple feature, but one that adds tremendous value. At the moment, there are only a few additional features I can think of that would make this app more effective in its purpose. The first would be the ability to automatically identify and copy any manually highlighted portions of a page (or better yet, a group of pages in a batch of uploaded photos!), to include instances where there are multiple disjointed highlights on a given page. That to me is the killer feature no existing notes or highlighting app that I am aware of currently offers (inexplicably so), and it would be a *massive* time saver for users who rely on a combination of analog and digital note taking (which in my humble opinion is the most effective way to digest information). The only other useful but less important feature I would love to see included is an ability to format (underline/boldface/italicize) portions of copied text after it is extracted from a photo. There are lots of instances i would like to keep track of specific phrases or sentences inside larger segments of text, and the ability to format would be ideal for that. Would love to hear from the developer on when/if those features might be included!!! Regardless, keep up the good work!!

Advanced Reading Companion

2024: app is continually amazing. I recommend it wholeheartedly. 2022: Highlighted is THE elegant app I always hoped someone would originate—to digitally highlight physical books. eBook quotes and passages can be sent to Highlighted via a Shortcuts app shortcut—as long as either “copy” (or) the iOS share-sheet can be invoked within an eReader. (Apps like Libby will not work, but Apple’s Books app will work.) Accurate OCR (text recognition) is the principal star of Highlighted, making it incredibly easy to save passages of interest. Entries are then globally searchable and easy to export. Artifacts of poorly captured OCR itself are rare. And when aberrations occur it is simple things I’ve seen with almost any OCR capture app. Highlighted seems to work best when you capture text passages in succession, like long paragraphs, rather than whole pages at once. And if you capture text where fragments of text (or sentences) are misplaced, a steady hand and a very clean capture window fixes that tendency. Highlighted is a beautifully designed app, making for a fantastic reading companion. It also supports several languages, with more on the way. And built in ISBN scanning makes it incredibly easy to add new books. Updates are frequent, well considered, and reflect a hard working and thoughtful developer, who's really hitting his stride. Super impressed. All I need now is a tip jar. 2024: app is continually amazing. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
