Good camp ground
We arrived and the sign on door said we were to be in 33 that we booked, however that stall had a trailer in it. We checked the list again and choose a camp spot that had no name beside it. We phoned the number and no one answered so I left a message.
Other than that the campground was well maintained and grass was cut and amenities were good.
Incredible app
Absolutely satisfying with the app
SA
As first time campers, the place was amazing! Jannie was super friendly and helpful. She welcomed us so nicely. The tent was absolutely fantastic and we slept like babies and didn't want to leave. It was the best place for relaxing and getting away. We will definitely be visiting again! Thank you so much!
Wonderful slice of bohemian heaven!
This trip was just what we needed… a place to relax and disconnect from everything!
Jessica and Mike (and kids) were wonderful hosts… actually waiting at the end of the driveway when they saw us drive past. They supplied us with dry firewood to start and a few other essentials we had forgotten.
The farm is beautiful and we had wonderful weather. The night skies were crystal clear! The trails throughout the property are fun to hike and, if in the right season, there are plants and mushrooms to forage (ethically, of course) - wild leeks were easily found! Multiple ponds are great for seeing wildlife - Canada geese and their goslings, spring peepers and grey tree frogs abound. The bugs really weren’t an issue - which was surprising considering the time of year. We heard coyotes one night, and wild turkeys early our last morning… lots of birds from crows to northern flickers and red wing blackbirds.
Again, the farm is so nice - we were shown the baby chicks, teenage turkeys, gigantic rabbits, and of course the alpacas… Hercules and Sherlock. We did have a morning walk with the alpacas which was a highlight of the weekend! We purchased farm fresh eggs, organic granola, and dried (farm foraged) mushrooms. We forgot all about the fresh baked sourdough bread or we would have ordered for the day we left!
The campsite is easily accessible and was perfect for our teardrop camper, but I am sure larger trailers would have no problem. The farm is also close to Durham and Owen Sound should you want to do any day tripping. We found a great crystal shop in Durham and had an early dinner at a place called Kettles Back Home Cooking.
What a great experience for our first trip out using this app. We will definitely be back to the Bohemian Farm.
The host site is clumsy and difficult to navigate
Cool
Misleading cancelation policy
It was my first time booking on hip camp. I specifically booked a site that said I would receive a full refund. It was never disclosed that “Hipcamp’s” booking fee was non refundable.
Thankfully customer service gave me the money back via credit which I really appreciate.
Will try the booking another time and see how it goes.
Not a happy camper!
Campers beware! Hosts are not all ready to accept guests and if you use the instant booking option you will be charged a service fee if you cancel even if the host is not sure if the site is ready for the season.
Hidden fees- AVOID
After booking, Superhog a third party verifying ID, gets all your information and asks you to pay a non-refundable $21 to wave your $300 security deposit or you pay $300 security deposit and they will deduct $9 anyways.
This means no matter what you have to pay an amount just because. I booked a lodging for $77/night as posted but I realized I am paying $150/night (almost double) with all added costs here and there.
I cancelled yet paid $32 again just because using this app. This type of entrepreneurship used to have another name in the Wild West era. Very disappointed…
Excellent App for camp lovers
Hipcamp interface makes finding the perfect camping spot a breeze. I love how it offers comprehensive information on campgrounds, including reviews from real campers, photos, and detailed amenities. Whether you're a seasoned camper or a novice looking for your first outdoor adventure, This app is a must-have tool for planning your trips. Highly recommended!"
HIP…HIP…HIPCAMP
Being a Hipcamp Host has allowed us to meet so many friendly, polite and nature-interested people. A wide array of campers from every walk of life with interesting stories and insights. I would recommend being a Host to those with a bit of land (doesn’t have to be fancy or serviced) and who enjoy meting people with interests similar to their own. As the season slows down I can honestly say our first year of Hosting has been a really great experience. So many interesting people from all over the world have stayed. Everyone has been respectful of the property, friendly, polite and each with their own engaging story of where they are from and where they are going. So looking forward to next year and hopefully seeing some familiar tents, trailers, RV’s, etc. returning.
