I have used Hipstamatic since day one. Bought lenses and film. And now it’s turned into a lame subscription-based app. WTAF? So sick of companies pulling this kind of thing. Ever hear of not ruining a good thing? I am so frustrated.
Paid 4 App + Almost All Hipstapaks Now U Want a Paid Subscription?!
I paid for this app for unlimited use before they switched to the subscription model. I also paid for every Hipstapak that was ever released minus a few that I didn’t want. Now I need to pay for a subscription every month or year on top of that if I want to use all of the features again?! I spent so much money on this app already and I feel like I’m being ripped off being asked to pay even more after buying the app outright when it was offered. If an app is bought for unlimited use then it should be honored even if the app switches to the stupid subscription model. I should be able to go to Restore Purchases and be able to use all of the features, but no they want more money. Well it’s not going to happen. I will not pay for any subscriptions. I’m going to start a petition for users who bought apps for unlimited use and are now being asked to pay for a subscription to continue to use all the features of an app when we shouldn’t have to because we already paid for the app. I hope at least my favorite photo app Hipstamatic will at least consider honoring the paid app users by letting us click on Restore Purchases to continue using all the features of the app and not just the Hipstapaks we paid for. I gave this app five stars since I started using it, I would like to change it back to five stars when this is corrected.
What the actual f?
I have had Hipstamatic for about 10 years now, and have spent soooo much money accruing lens and filters, to make my photos that extra special, and they are the best at that. BUT NOW they are keeping those packages hostage until i pay them a monthly or yearly fee. FOR WHAT? I already bought them!! Hipstamatic has turned into a bunch of thieves and crooks, and I can’t get behind them anymore.
Profile picture photo picker
Please use the iOS system photo picker when choosing a profile picture instead of your custom UI. The entire app lags when I browse I guess due to my huge photo library. And it doesn’t show my latest photos.
Scam - Intentionally misleading
This app used use to (many years ago) where you had lenses, paid for ones you wanted. Then this comes up but it’s NOT the same app despite using the same name.
As a professional photographer for many many years, this app is trash and chaos when it comes to editing. They have no concept of how film or cameras work, nor even the basics of photography. Its just a lie and cheap ploy. Any photo editing app is infinitely better (it is truly a shock how bad the app is, and that’s when it does not glitch and fail completely).
Don’t waste your time and save your money. Don’t fall for this cheap, poorly done scam. No way to get your money back after you realize it’s not the same app (though made by and made to look like the old one that already took money).
Just save yourself the trouble and edit using any other app, because (and I’m not exaggerating) any other photo editing app is infinitely better and actually understands how camera, “film”, “flash” and curves work.
Where’s my old Hipstamatic?
I’ve had shows with my Hipstamatic photos, model shoots, and my home is decorated with Hipstamatic photos. All of this because I could pick it up and shoot it quickly. Where did it go? What am I missing?
Bad customer service
The app doesn’t work. I’ve taken 30+ pictures with it, and exactly none have been developed. I get a notice they’re developed, then I get an Error 3311. I’ve messaged their support, got a single response, then when I responded with more info, I was ghosted. I asked again for help. Nope, still ghosted just like prom all over again.
I wish I could return broken apps like I can return a broken toaster at Costco cause I’d definitely return this app.
annoying camera click sound
can someone turn this off somewhere? if so where?
Bought lenses and all sorts of stuff now gone.
I’ve supported this app from the very beginning. Spent a good deal of money on an app for lenses and film that was not real, but wanted to support the concept. They took all my lenses away and now want me to rent them. Only about 10 combos are worth it. The rest look absurd, cheap, dated and silly.
It could be an amazing app. Unfortunately, it’s not. It’s a scam. And the app is so buggy it does not work right at all. Definitely got cheated when I gave them the benefit of the doubt and spent more money to have what I already paid for. Guess that’s on me. The scam though… that’s them. There are much better apps for editing than this. And your camera lets you shoot from the hip. You don’t need a silly badge to tell you that.
iCloud issues
This app is inspired, but unstable and suffers regular connection issues with iCloud. This renders an excellent photo sharing and discovery platform inaccessible. I regret purchasing the annual subscription.
