Insight Guides Walking Eye Reviews

Horrible

The map feature for Scotland did not work. Very limited tourist and restaurant recommendations. Save your money.

Fake ebook

Downloaded it but all it says is the ebook cannot be downloaded at the moment. Then I have to carry the hard copy??

I downloaded the app after purchasing an Insight Guides pocket guide. After I scanned the QR code inside the book, the app froze in the Verification process. The app shows a “Please wait…” message and prevents me from navigating to the next page to answer the first question.

Completely broken, company does not respond to support requests

I’ve purchased a number of Insight Guides over the years that came with a free e-book version. At one point in the past it worked fine. However, for the past year (or two, with the pandemic I’ve lost track) I have been completely unable to log into the app to access them. I had originally set my account up using the Facebook login option, but now when I try to use it I get an error message telling me that it’s in “development mode” and I don’t have access. I’ve tried using the Google login and email login methods with no success either. So then I tried the support link in the app. Wrote out a whole message detailing the issues I’ve been having and what I had tried so far to fix them. And then it failed to send. I finally ended up just tweeting at the company, because that usually works if nothing else does to at least start a dialog (companies don’t like being called out publicly, funny that). No response there either. I’ve pretty much given up at this point, but shame on Insight Guides for not delivering what they’ve promised, and for failing to support their own customers. It’s enough that I’ve started leaning toward other options when I buy travel guides. Very disappointing.

Rip off

No matter how you try to utilize the “free ebook” that is included with the purchase of the book, it won’t work. It will send you around in circles until it drives you crazy. Waste of time and money as I purchased the book specifically for the ebook feature.

Cannot scan the QR code on my book so I cannot utilize the electronic version. Disappointing to say the least.

Better than expected...

Like others, I felt discouraged after reading reviews, but once I managed to download the ebook and then the actual publication via the iBooks app, things worked very nicely. I’ll always prefer the paper version of a guidebook, one I can dog ear, but the ebook is a welcomed supplement.

Ripped off

I bought the Australian Insight Guide specifically so that I could use the Walking Eye app at no additional cost. However, after downloading/scanning the code, the content disappeared after 10 days. When I tried to login, my credentials no longer worked, nor did the “forgot password” link. I couldn’t scan the code again without logging in, and without credentials couldn’t log in. I’ll be purchasing a different ebook, and will avoid all future purchases of Insight Guides.

Worthless and empty

If you are in a major city and want to know where you can buy a purse, maybe you will like this app. If you are interested in the Castles, museums or monuments of any type, there are none in this app. Maybe in some countries, but nothing in Portugal. We will buy other books on the future if they think this has any use for travel. Completely worthless.

Password

Tells me my password is wrong but won’t accept the new password they sent which makes the app useless.
