Iphigénie is the hiking map app for outdoor enthusiasts in France and around the world. Perfect for individuals (hikers, trailers, bikers, horse riders…) and professionals (guides, firefighters, surveyors, airmen, sailors, etc.) who need accurate maps.

Find more than 40 detailed topographic basemaps (including IGN maps, SwissTopo, IGN Spain, OpenTopo, OpenSnow, land registry, slope inclination), even while offline.

BEFORE YOUR OUTING
- Prepare your outing by downloading maps to access them offline
- Create, edit and import tracks

Position does not work

On the free trial the position reticle appears switched off so it’s no use on the trails.

Tricky uk but very powerful

This is a great app. It is the best way to get the superb IGN maps of France. Maps for several other European countries are available in the app. You can have two maps in use as overlays and shift between them - including geological maps. BUT the UI is generally fiddly and over complex. Also the manual is in French and omits (or hides!) some critical information- in particular that to switch from north top maps to rotating maps you need to triple-click the screen.

Brilliant

I think this app is first class. Easy to use and changes scale seamlessly. Based on the very good IGN maps.

Takes payment gives nothing

How often. How much. Does one have to pay subscription to enable local maps to work ? Annoyed And given up with this app, as a potential bottomless pit which gives nothing

Needs ux improvement

Paid £5 to use route marking feature which doesn’t seem to work or at best very unintuitive. Need to consider UX makeover

French Maps

It used to be free but now Pay the £3.99 for a month or £10.99 for the year if you walk or cycle in France this is a must take time to properly read through the French menu it's a little quirky but worth downloading

Disappointed

The previous version was fantastic ! You could zoom in so close but since the newest upgrade all you get is the most basic of maps unless you pay . So disappointed and will probably delete .

Family sharing!

I use this app and it says it supports Apple family sharing. We can find no way to enable it so I have downgraded to one star. Please sort this out. You say yes to family sharing but do not offer a way to share.

Great Mapping - Quirky Interface

The reproduction of the IGN maps on a retina iPad and iPhone is just stunning. But the interface takes some getting used to. When I first reviewed this product I gave it only one star because I found the user interface to be so frustrating and unintuitive. However, one star is unfair for an otherwise excellent app. The cartography couldn't be better. Even down to 1:25 000 everything is rendered beautifully crisp and clear. This is ideal for long multi-day mountain treks when carrying a full set of 1:25ks would be impracticable. The display on an iPhone 5s is good enough in terms of coverage at a glance. Its incredible on an iPad. You have to re-download offline maps onto each device but routes can be cloud synced. The app is a bit buggy but for France I would choose it any time over a dedicated GPS navigator.

Excellent UI, very responsive

If I lived in France I would use this all the time - access to IGN maps and provisional cacheing make it ideal for cycle touring. Provisional cacheing of Open Cycle Maps is not possible (due to OCM T&Cs) so it is less of use to me at the moment, although the application is very fast, has been 100% stable and has a well thought out UI that has minimal impact on screen space. The author is also quick to respond to support questions and suggestions.
