After years of using this app I’m now having to convert all invoices and estimates to another platform. I don’t need any thrills and frills just a plain invoice and estimate maker and that’s what this app was now they want to charge for that. I don’t mind paying for stuff that’s gonna make me money but if I’ve made money using the free version why would I decide to pay now. You have a paid version so update that with fancy stuff and leave the free version as is. On top of being told the free version is ending I’m told that my current invoices and estimates that are currently with clients will not be accessible by me or the client. If you want to run businesses off go ahead but give us the courtesy to access what we have worked for, I’m going to lose money because of your bad business practice if I can’t get everything transferred and new invoices and estimates are sent out before the 31st. Having to transfer all the data I have on the app to something temporarily until I find another platform that is suitable. This app was never perfect for my business but I made do with what it provided because it was free, now that’s over. Will not recommend this to anyone. I read one response say they only meant for it to be free for a short while. 5+ years isn’t a short while. Update: After developer response I standby my statement. I will not be staying with this app. After researching there are a lot of others that offer more that are free. Just because you are failing as a business doesn’t mean the customer has to take on your burden. If you want to charge for a minimum service then go ahead but locking your customers who have used your platform for years out of their invoices to never be able to retrieve them is absolutely ridiculous. This is what’s childish and shows how much you appreciate the customers who have used this app since it’s beginnings. If out of all the years you’ve been in business if what’s causing your business to fail is a free version then you were failed from the start.

When I first started with Joist in 2019 everything was 100% free. Every year they took more and more away. Now 5 years later it is 100% paid. Unfortunately, with that this is where it ends for both of us. There are other options that offer everything for free such as Yardbook and Zoho. I wish Joist the best of luck but in todays economy it’s just not worth paying $8 a month just to send out invoices. I’m upset that you pulled this in the middle of a year instead of waiting until a new calendar year.

They started out good then problems, they started out free, if they kept basic, that would have been reasonable, but they take option after option away and charge for it, like they are doing you a favor. Greed, and a poor product are something that doesn’t work well. I would highly recommend you not go with them as I suspect they will be closing down soon due to these continued faulty practices, and then your going to be looking for something else. A bad business model makes a big red flag, this is how companies fail, and they have definitely failed. Very sad, at first they had things working well. Update, the reach out was simply, we can’t, yet they did for 10 years. Continued bad business practices makes this an app that you can’t trust and can’t look at exsisting much longer. I can’t invest in a company which has provided poor action. What will they do next? Keep bumping the price up more and more? Simply not worth the value and there are simple invoice programs which have been around as long as joist and still offer free for basic service. I wish I had never heard about them now.

Loading pictures onto an estimate crashes the whole app forcing you to re-type the entire estimate. App takes forever to open, embarrassing when you have a client standing in front of you.

I don’t know if this changed with the recent update but before when I would upload pictures on invoices it would include as many pictures on each page as possible. Typically two but now it only uploads one picture per page no matter the size. This has turned my 12 page invoices into 20 - 25 page invoices. Is there any way to fix this to go back to the way it was before? I had no issues with the app before this. I updated the app before writing this review and that didn’t work.

We use this app for our company daily. It is overall great, pretty user friendly on our end. I wish when we sent a contractor to a client, instead of having to click on the top/right corner to get a drop down to sign, it had an option within the document they just click on to sign, it would be way more intuitive for potential clients. It does feel like they nickel and dime you. We pay for the pro and they come out with other features and we would have to pay more to become “elite” and access those features. Come on guys, have free and “pro”, enough is enough. My biggest pet peeve though is the lack of responsiveness from customer service. There is a glitch in the app that forces you to the bottom of a contract while customizing it so you have to scroll clear back to the top 6 or 7 times just to put in the client’s info. I reached out to them about this in February and they said they were aware of it and would email me when it was resolved and to simply use a computer in the meantime. It’s now June and it still hasn’t been resolved, something that would take a developer 5 minutes of code to fix. This app is supposed to be able to be used on the job site and at people’s homes where we give bids, it needs to be phone-friendly so make those fixes a top-priority.

Super easy to use system, if it was available on for the Mac/laptops would definitely give it 5 stars!

This app makes it hard sometimes for clients to pay. I’ve been dealing with it all month and have not gotten paid because of this app . Definitely switching

Always there to help with their live chat! Answered my question every time with how to do something within our invoices. Have used Joist for a little over 3 years. You can’t go wrong!!!
