This app has helped me to learn bird calls in the field quicker and allows me to practice anywhere. I particularly like the feature in which I can create my own playlists to study from. I only wish that the Latin name of the bird was revealed along with the common name to help me memorize scientific names. I highly recommend this app to anyone interested in learning bird calls.

Really love this app and it has made a tremendous impact on my birding skills. Glad I purchased as many packs as I did as I find the new subscription price way too expensive. Won’t be buying any more packs. Would have had a 5 star rating before this switch Today I also had problems with the app crashing when I tried to use it. This has happened before and seemed to resolve itself so hoping it’s just a momentary glitch.
Haven’t used Larkwire for quite awhile but have recently become reacquainted. I remember how helpful it was when I was an absolute beginner to birding by ear. My birding by ear has improved in the last few years so it’s nice to come back to this and see my improvement as well as an improved app! Great time to study up on songs. Looking forward now to intermediate level!

Identifying sounds varied, constant practice..Excellent.
This app is by far the easiest and most fun way to learn bird calls that I have seen. The text is descriptive and helpful, pointing out exactly what to listen for to differentiate similar species. The game layout starts out simple, getting you comfortable with the most common species without overwhelming you with too many, but slowly builds until you can identify almost any North American bird by song. The recordings are a good representation of the species, and in practice it really works! It has made it much simpler to locate species in the field, and gain lifers before even seeing them. Whether you want to just learn the warblers for your region, or be prepared to find a rare vagrant by song alone, I highly recommend this app.
Would be amazing if this app was suited better for iPhones! It seems like it’s meant to be used on a tablet. It would also be awesome as a learning tool if Larkwire gave you tips on what to listen for to determine which species call you are listening to! Overall a great app!
