Is LEGO® Builder legit?
🤔 The LEGO® Builder app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I want to start off by saying I love this app. It shows Lego’s continuous commitment to enhancing customer experience.
Pros:
- Access to building instructions of retired sets.
- Relatively straightforward and user friendly interface.
- Pretty fast. Have some issues with lagging but overall it functions very smoothly.
- BUILD TOGETHER MODE is the primary reason I’m even writing this review. It is such an awesome experience getting to build with others in an environment that has been built specifically with collaboration in mind. It’s an incredibly fun way to share Lego. For example, Lego is now in the regular date night rotation for my girlfriend and I. She had never been interested before.
Con (suggestions):
- Crashing does happen occasionally.
- Interface does not make the build together mode immediately noticeable. It is, in my opinion, the biggest reason to use the app. Yet it appears on the home page a full “screen scroll” under other sets.
- Loss of progress. This one hurts. Lost about half our progress in build together on Santa’s post office. Had to tediously go through each step.
- In build together, allow an option to filter by “new”. It is not immediately obviously how many new sets there are unless you know how many were there before the update. There is also no easy way to navigate the new sets. I would like to be able to see them in a single list rather than scroll through ~500 sets trying to catch the “new” tag on the image. Especially when a new wave drops it would be nice to see which ones are on there!
Regardless of the cons, love the app. Can’t wait to see it continue to improve.
Too glitchy
I keep getting error messages when trying to register a set. And why am I asked what year I was born and clearly am an adult, but still have to solve a math problem every time I want to access my account to register a new set? This app may be helpful for those that need instructions, but that must be the only thing it’s good for.
One word:
Useful, practical, advantageous, handy, helpful, beneficial, convenient, and cooperative (a special thanks to thesaurus.com for helping out with this review.)
**Update: Completed sets won’t go away!** Really good but with limitations
*UPDATE: I’m really getting frustrated with this app! I can’t ‘complete’ builds any more. I get to the last page and exit but it doesn’t realize I’m done. I used to be able to long press on a set on the home page and hide it but that option no longer exists. I’ve resorted to ‘resetting’ the instructions which seemed to remove the ‘unfinished’ sets but they randomly keep coming back. Today I opened the app to find 5 sets sitting on my Home Screen that I had already finished and cleared out. What is going on LEGO?!? Please fix this so I can enjoy the app building experience again.
I love this app and my preference is always to use the builder app over the printed instructions. Unfortunately, so many instructions don’t show up in the app even though they are available online through customer support. Why don’t you link the databases so the app will download any off available in you customer database? Also, I wish they were more with the 3D instructions. Sometimes it is not clear exactly where a piece should go and the ability to get a different view is awesome. Overall great app but still room for improvement.
Helps a lot
Better than book
Great app but bad scanning
I recently bought a Harry Potter Lego set called Hagrid hut and unexpected visits but when I went to scan it, get the instructions it directed me to a Jurassic Park Lego sets. and either this is an official Lego set and LEGO messed up or there’s a company using a Legos exact logo, Harry Potter‘s exact logo and the wizarding world logo.
PS sorry if there are any misspellings, I’m text to speech because I need to do something real quick and I don’t have enough time to type
Can’t log in anymore
We see to love this app for tracking the collection and using the 3D instructions. After the latest update I am permanently logged out and pressing the log in button does nothing.
Both great and pointless
I downloaded this app so I can have a digital copy of all my set booklets to help keep better track of all of them. But, while adding sets to my library, I noticed SEVERAL cases of sets simply not existing within the app. And no, I don’t mean them being “retired,” they just don’t show up, at all.
New update
I just updated my app and it keeps crashing
game changer
I never really write reviews but oh my gosh! this app is necessary!! I’m most definitely a visual learner and although the instructions are helpful, i like that i can see each and every block by itself and even zoom in for a closer look. if blocks look too similar it even gives you a warning to keep an eye out. I’m building my cat in lego form (tuxedo cat) and i was able to finish the first bag pretty quickly. this makes lego building so much easier for me.
