This is by far the best workout app I have ever used. And the developer was quick to fix my only issue! Love it!
The only thing I would I like to suggest to the developer is to add more fine grained control over rest times.
For example, when I do cable lat raises I do them with one arm at a time. I prefer to do a 30 second rest between each arm so as to ensure I am giving both sides equal effort.
Another example, when doing a superset I would like to be able to set it so that I have a short rest between the two exercises but a longer rest after each set. So 30 seconds between the two and 1 minute after completing the two.
The absolutely most fancy feature, and I’m not sure if it is possible, would be to have it so that I can have my rest time automatically increase if my heart rate is too high. So let’s say that I have an Apple Watch and I set my maximum heart rate to be 140 and my rest time to be 1 minute. After completing a set the rest timer will countdown from 1 minute. Once at 5 seconds remaining, it would look at my heart rate and if it was above 140 it would increase the rest time by 10 seconds. That would be so fancy and amazing. Totally optional though.
Watch app won’t close
Good app over all, with one huge flaw. The watch app re-opens itself after hard closing it. How is that even possible? Fix this and get five stars. If you’re wondering, Aplle Watch Ultra series 1.
Absolutely Amazing
This is by far the best workout app I have ever used.
And the developer was quick to fix my only issue!
Love it!
Stellar Design with Excellent Features
I care a lot about design and platform integration in my app selection. I’m a huge fan of indie apps and this app is a delight.
I have been powerlifting for a couple years now and have tried just about every app available for it. I don’t need someone to make a program for me, I want a well designed app that lets me build my own workouts. Not only does Liftin do that, but it brings in so many quality of life features that make it a joy to use.
As someone who follows principles of linear progression and progressive overload in his training methodology, this is the only app I’ve tried that automatically handles this aspect for me. It also allows custom linking in its automatic progression. My volume squat progresses independently of my intensity squat, even though it’s the same lift but used in different workouts. Then things like curls can progress sequentially together while being part of different workouts. Live Activity keeps me apprised of my rest timer while I’m browsing the web or reading. I can create custom lifts whenever needed and categorize them appropriately. The app remembers recent lifts for quick additions. Routines can have substitutions so you can keep the routine but swap in RDLs on the fly.
The icing on the cake is how responsive the developer. I cannot recommend the app enough.
It works sometimes
I really like the layout and the ability to customize workouts & equipment. This app has a horrible time syncing my workout between my watch and phone. I almost always have to waste time trying to get it to work. Half the time it looks like it started working but actually two separate workouts were tracked at the same time. Anytime I’ve requested help I’m just told I need to update my watch and phone. They are updated but unfortunately that hasn’t changed anything. Again, love the the layout but the time I waste trying to get it to sync is often more counterproductive.
Pls help
Pls help everything in this app is amazing just won’t show the same heart rate on the Liftin’ app that is shows on my “Heart Rate” app on my Apple Watch. Fir example, I will do a workout and my heart rate is stuck at 67 BPM and 0 Active Calories, while my BPM on my Heart Rate app is at 120+ during my workouts. Therefore, nothing is being calculated correctly on the Liftin’ App in terms of Calories burned towards my Move Goal because of an incorrect Heart Rate. Please fix, I LOVE THIS APP I DON’T WANT TO USE ANOTHER ONE 😭😭😭
Best workout tracking app
Look no further, this is it!
This app is amazing. I gave it 4 stars because it is not flawless.
First and foremost, I love this app. When select your workout on the iPhone and start the workout, you can just put your iPhone in your gym bag and follow your work out on your apple watch. You can easily make changes to sets and workout all on your apple watch as you go through your workout without skipping a beat. One thing I hate about alot of these apps is that they only offer you a subscription to use the app and the app is not even a good one. This app does offer a subscription to use the app. But it also give you the option to just buy the app with a one time purchase. The one time purchase was a whopping $99. I don’t a problem with what a app decides to put as their one time fee charge as long as it does give you that one time fee option. It should be a standard procedure to give a one time fee option. With that said, $99 was worth paying for me because I work out 4 to 5 days a week and am what you would call a gymnast. Now for our pros and cons.
Pro:
It keeps track of the calories you burned with your workout and sync that with your health app. Which is good for me because I am trying to maintain my weight and gain muscle mass so I need a certain amount of calories each day to do this. The calorie app that helps you do that gets updated as well and adjusts the amount of calories you need for the day in order to meet your goal. I love that!!
It keeps a running track of how many reps you did in your sets. You can see what your improvements are in comparison to the week before or the last time you did that exercise.
When you're creating your workout, It allows you to create an exercise that is not listed like “Snatches” for example. You would be able to select what kind of equipment you use to do the workout and what the name of the workout will be. It also gets added to the list so you can easily select it for different exercise later.
You can set the amount of weight you use to do the workout with on each set and adjust the weight change as you go right on your apple watch.
Con:
Biggest con is: It does not accommodate or support a run, be it on the treadmill or outside. You have to go to your Nike Run app for that.
It crashes from time to time. When you finish one rep and click finish so it can go to the next rep, it wont restart your rep time. That gets so irritating when it does that. I usually just start a countdown on my apple watch when it does that.
This con is a big deal: when you finish one exercise and go to the ne
Incredible App & Design
I use the Liftn’ Apple Watch app for all my workouts and it is so simple and clean. The design is flawless and lets me do everything I need to do without even opening my phone. This makes it simple to use in the gym since my watch is always on. Home Screen worthy!
Good
It’s great. It’s everything I want in a lifting app. But, It’s becoming a lot more common that my workouts don’t end up in Health and the watch and phone app aren’t in sync. Can you just make a way to resync the workouts to health? That would be much appreciated.
