The LM-3000 is even more accurate than almost any cheap light meter available. Besides that, its measurement algorithm delivers unrivaled sensitivity to capture the faintest lighting changes, empowering new possibilities in light pollution and health research.
Developed and tested by optics scientists and engineers, calibrated using professional grade Class A equipment for all iPhones and iPads, the LM-3000 is truly a light meter you can trust!
Download the app for free and use it for some time! If you like it, you may buy the unlimited battery pack to use the LM-3000 for as long as you want, even when switching to a new device. Your purchase allows us to provide an Ad-free experience and helps our small team to keep on building great apps to measure light accurately and easily.
To allow the app to accurately measure light intensity (lux or foot-candle) you must use a diffuser. You can either easily build one yourself for free or get the easy-to-use Diffuser & Cosine Corrector accessory from our website (-> lightray.io/diffuser).

Light Meter LM-3000 Reviews
inaccurate, overpriced
The app is the same as every other, tries to guess luminance from number of white pixels on camera. They want $11 for it. You can buy an accurate light meter for $25. This app is barely usable as a free version, it’s a waste of money for a paid version.
Bait and switch
App worked fine for about one hour. Then a pop up required a 10.99 C$ payment.
Don’t list your product as free, then quickly charge for basic usage. I would have paid for it from the start, if the developers were not dishonest.
Junk
I made a diffuser like it said. As im trying to get the measurements it keeps popping up telling me i need to build one. How can I use this app if the app wont let me use it.
Surprised
I was surprised when this stopped working asking for purchase of a $7.99 app
I just recommended this to someone and I’ve got to let them know that it’s not free like I told them
Thank You!
Great app! It works very well and no purchases!

User
Very useful, Thank you!
Not Accurate
I have a $400 Sekonic Light meter wide by side with this app and the reading on this app is much higher.
Not free
I thought this was free. Should have read reviews first. Perhaps if you stated upfront that it is a free trial OR listed the cost upfront, I might have bought it. The trial did afford me the opportunity to find out that it will require a diffuser for accurate measurements, so at least that was a perk of the free trial.
Extremely helpful
Provides an objective measure of ambient light, giving me a sound basis for determining where I need more light — in my condo’s public spaces and in my own unit. Incredibly easy to use.
