Linn

Decent, simple app. Lots of room for improvement, although recent updates (6 months ago) make it better. Being available on the Lock Screen would be ideal, and a bit more of a fluid and modern feel. A few more controls and natural user journeys for play out controls would be great. Also the ability to play the next song in an album without having to play the whole album. Could be a toggle etc. I look forward to the improvements. Just copy Spotify UX for play out.

I need something easy to use and with super features. This has all that.

I have a Synolgy NAS with two versions of the DBpoweramp Asset music server loaded. The Linn app works with one but then fails to switch properly to the other. It appears to be a database problem as it retains one when it should be cleared in order to load the other. I’ve not contacted Linn as I don’t expect them to do much about it based on the experiences of many of the folk that give feedback here. As many have stated, Linn music systems generally sound great. They should do - they’re not cheap! So why release a half baked piece of software to control such great kit? Beats me….

Far too often the app can’t find my DS. Which means I can’t control a bloody expensive piece of kit. Sort it out Linn. Oh and Quboz drops out loads too.

I am a long time Klimax ds and lp2 user Ds is sweet but needs Apple Music for just exploring new tunes and sharing playlists with friends Maybe one day

The sonic capabilities of Linn audio equipment are superb. They should be because most Linn audio systems are more expensive than cars. Some cost more than people have in life savings. It's the UI/control software that lets the whole side down. What good is it having such a capable system if you can't control it? This app is an embarrassment. I have a Linn DS player in the kitchen and one in the living room. Let's imagine I'm listening in the Living Room. I leave it playing and I move to the kitchen. I want to play something in the kitchen so I select the Kitchen. The pins change to Kitchen Pins. When I tap on a pin, it changes in the Living Room. And vice versa. This is unacceptable. The whole app control team need to be turfed out on their ear. They've been releasing this sort of garbage for a decade and it gets worse every time. What a shambles. The only way to control your expensive Linn system is to use a control app made by a 3rd party. Anyone so long as it isn't Linn.

I have had the linn just over 2 weeks and I’m blown away with the quality of the product and the sound . I use to have a Naim system the linn is so much better

I thought the Naim app was poor - ok most of issues resolved by hardwiring everything and then pretty reliable except following server outage or power cut when it can take days to repopulate all the kit. So I thought I’d add a linn product - app makes Naims look a quality product - often searching for rooms and playback often disrupted - fortunately Spotify connect can always see the product so I don’t have to use the app (though not Qobuz)- I know I should spend the time and dig into this and fix it all as I’m sure it’s doable - I was looking for something that just worked not something which was harder going than Naim- sounds great but another drain on your time
