My wife lost her hearing a few months back so we had to rely on apps such as this to basically live on a daily basis. The basic version is very hit or miss. You have to be very close to the app and even then it will miss many words. They basically make it mess up on purpose (at least it looks that way). The paid app is pretty incredible. It can hear people from across the room and is very accurate. What is a problem, a major problem, is the pricing. Being $5 a month is not bad, but 1) 5 hours goes fast, very fast. 2) even if you don’t use the 5 hours one month and pay for another month it won’t give you another 5 hours, it caps the hours at ~6 hours, even though you paid another month 3) after you cancel the subscription the hours will expire after a month. So they really hold onto these premium hours. We have since turned to other solutions.

Federal Communication Commission (FCC) should subsidize cost of using this app as they do for ClearCaptions and Hamilton CapTel.

I use this as an audiologist when working with patients who are deaf or hard of hearing. So helpful for anyone with hearing issues. You just have to be mindful to take turns when speaking.

Seems like a great app to use for helping someone hearing impaired. My wife is deaf and this can help when trying to have conversations with friends or even each other when she doesn’t want to wear her hearing aids. Bonus for having the option to make the phone vibrate when the persons name is said!! Of course it’s not 100% accurate but it’s definitely close enough to follow what’s being said.

Not going to shell out $79.99/year as only option to buy this app where it doesn’t catch 100% of the conversations. No monthly option available. I’ll pass.

Great app. As a profoundly hard of hearing person who only started to lose my hearing 12 years ago, I did all I could to make up for the increased loss til it got to the point that lip reading no longer worked. (And as per my audiologist, I have “phenomenal” lip reading skills.) Now I can have conversations with people and not lose half to three quarters of the conversation. Just spent half an hour with my sister and niece and it was no problem keeping up with what they said. I’ve been using this app for a couple of years, used a different one prior, but it was just so so. Live Transcribe is so much better. Thank you!

Best transcription app I’ve used! I use it everywhere. I tell people they must have my permission to speak to me…as I’m getting the app out and ready for use! Haha! People are very accommodating! Just waiting for the new June Pro hours to arrive!
