Why start every line with bullet points?

Was looking for a new notes and journaling app. I love the idea since markdown is simple to use, but I don’t understand why every line has a bullet point. Markdown is beautiful cause the format is well documented. Here, a bullet point before a header just because it’s a new line? Why???!????
