Needs more work
Feels too heavy and misses essential UX features such as empty state messages (when there are no mentions, such as after a registration, it just shows an empty view). Get Ivory by Tapbots when it’s released, they know what they’re doing.
Good but not playing videos
Hi, I like the app and idea of decentralised social network. I have one problem with it, it’s not playing videos, so If I would like to se it, I have to use web version.
iOS unfriendly
The account register screen does support hide my mail feature, however password and username inputs are not recognized and thus the iPhone doesn’t allow to generate password and store it together with username in iCloud Keychain. This is a complete fail which is enough for me not to even complete the registration step.
Very good
Mastodon is an excellent alternative for Twitter. Although I experience some small issues with posting images from iPhone SE (1st gen.), I am sure this will be fixed in the future updates. I will be using it anyway, I like the freedom it offers. Excellent!
Good app with a few usability issues
As described on the tittle, it’s a good and usable app. It does have some usability issues when setting up the account which can make it harder to use for no techies. On the pro side, it’s an open source application, so anyone with knowledge can contribute to make better. All in all, I recommend it.
For nerds only
I really like the idea of privacy friendly open sourced network. But I don't believe it can reach general public. It's simply designed for technical geeks and nerds, not for BFU. I mean even the very first registration screen is overwhelming and complicated. And even when you already know which server you want to join, it's hard to actually find it in the list. The decentralization is cool, but also overwhelming. I think the most people just want to simply join one place and consume the content, not to search and tune the technical stuff all around. That's why I think it won't be mass adopted and the interesting content will happen elsewhere.
