Got the notification of the one time purchase of the Creator version. I was about to buy it, but then I saw the free app will only upgradable on the single device. I have three iPads, including an iPad mini, and I use them all in different scenarios. So this restriction totally kills the deal, and I am deleting the free app. Shame, and something of a foolish decision by the developer.
I’m so in love with your app Ive only had it a week it’s marvellous and as an artist I could create my own virtual gallery and post online .
Actually a well made app that draws nicely and is easy to use. Apple Pencil support is really good and everything is smooth and satisfying. It is a little gimmicky though, missing many basic features of a drawing app and only a few brushes. Which makes the 25£ one time fee a little inflated right now and the 53£ a month?! absolutely ludicrous. In time, with more features, support and updates this could be a really solid app worth the 25£ asking.
Firstly this programme does have promise. The effect is fantastic but £53. PER MONTH is just ridiculous I’ve no idea where they have come up with that. It’s not over intuitive either. Thankfully there are tutorials but a few improvements would help the user. But pricing is ridiculous.
Waaaay too expensive. I can get a subscription to the full Adobe suite for that much… developers have missed the market here - easily would increase their subscriptions 20-30 fold by charging $5 a month and thereby making more money. Or, just charge a small flat fee like Procreate and gain the respect of the industry.
Mental Canvas is very easy to use, I can make short videos in my iPad!!!! Compare to other software or apps, it’s really really easy!!! I’m a illustrator, to use apple pen can give more details to the pictures. And the instruction videos are very helpful, after watching these videos, I can create my 3D works and videos easily. I saw some people are disappointed with the app has to go with an apple pen, but I think fingers and apple pens have different functions on the app. Fingers can make the picture in different sizes, apple pens can draw or choose the different angles, it just how it works. I also saw some people are disappointed with the price not showing in the app, I have the same situation. But it can be found on the website, after purchasing, login to the app, it’s known and the export videos won’t have the water mark. I would definitely recommend this app to my friends in the field.
I came on to write a review in support of the app but I feel I have to take into account some of the previous reviews: In terms of cost, maybe it’s just me but instead of writing a review I actually wrote to them and said that I really liked the app but at the cost I wouldn’t be going past the free trial. They responded and told me that they are soon to release a cheaper version, same functionality but with only one live canvas. It’s $30 for the year £22 or something so I got it! I am a bit of a novice but I have been working well between Procreate importing png files fine. Currently working through the tutorial vids and enjoying the YouTube stuff as well. I have been playing with it with my 8 year old and it’s brilliant…it has him tied in knots getting his head around the space and how to navigate its great. We are having some great chats about how it works. I am getting my head around it and I love what it is trying to do. I draw a lot and purely digital is pretty new to me I use an old Wacom and more recently the I pad and pencil. A few comments on here about no finger drawing functionality with this app but I would say that if you have an I pad or tablet and you are into exploring drawing get a pencil. It will give your digital drawing life much more potential…not just with this app. I know money is an issue but it is an essential tool! Any how I think mental canvas is brilliant it is genuinely exploring digital drawing and what it might be. This is a real example of research made real and one of the most innovative creative apps I’ve seen!
On my iPad pen it doesn’t work
This could be such a good app unfortunately it left me disappointed and £600 per year! Are you kidding me??
