La nuova versione dell’app rende la pubblicità più fastidiosa, facendo sì che l’usabilità dell’app peggiori notevolmente allo scopo di costringervi a una forma di abbonamento annuale (quando prima la pubblicità si poteva eliminare con un modesto pagamento una tantum). Se avete la versione precedente tenetevela stretta.

I am a pretty longtime user of m-w app, and always kept it in the free mode (I’m considering a subscription though). It’s a very reliable source of knowledge about English language, while providing some nice word games, which substantially make learning more fun as well. In the past, the popping-up of some commercial ads used to be somewhat annoying, as they partially prevented or hampered the consultation of the entry you were looking for. Today, that shortcoming is not showing up anymore, as the ad is simply sorta “window” that you can predictably turn off, by tapping a convenient “cross mark” in some corner, pretty much as you would foresee. Thus, I think the add is deserving the fifth star, which I seldom give to any reviewed app (implying that it is always possible to make it better, that’s sorta truism, I know).
Fantastic dictionary! Especially for kids that can find new words fun games to learn from, a thesaurus. More than I imagined! Outstanding job!

Your ads implementation is turning the best dictionary app into the most annoying dictionary app ever. Here's my daily experience: An ad opens.. Activates voice on its own. And the best part? You can't even close it. I use an iPhone XR. No matter how many times I tap the close button, the ad doesn't close. I have to close the app and reopen it for EVERY SINGLE WORD!
Thank you for making me grow my knowledge of the English language: in my opinion, among all the resources I have been using in my 40 years of studying English, Yours is the best! Thank you!
