One of my favourite tools
Perfekt til at skal et overblik.
I clearly didn’t do my homework before signing up for MindMeister. I had used it on my laptop, but as I was buying myself an iPad, I was trigger happy, and signed up :( I never considered that a mind mapping app on a tablet would not support pen input - I have been used to doing that with MindManager since I got my Samsung Slade more than 10 years ago! The fault is entirely mine, but my confidence in MindMeister disappeared at the same time. It is definitely a step back from what I have been used to, and I know there are better options on the market…like there were 10 years ago! :(
I have been a MindMeister user from the very beginning of the app, and use it very frequently for notes, brainstorms, shared concepts and much more. It is very easy to use and super fast - if you have a decent internet connection. Also the true cross-device and cross-platform consistency is great. It is still missing two key features, that do not seem to be under way in the new beta either. And they are the only reasons why I still lapse back to the old rival Mindmanager from time to time.: - Offline editing - Long form content support After a brief attempt at using the now defunct Google Gears technology some years ago, MindMeister still do not support an offline mode that makes it possible to use it on planes, with bad connectivity or on devices without network. Also whenever I want to start witring anything longer than a paragraph, it becomes much less useful due to the fact that each note cannot be viewed as part of a full map document. Maybe the new outline feature can help a bit here. In the mean time my workflow is broken, and I switch from MM to Word, once I want to start writing for real. Or use MindManager who enables a smooth transition from brainstorming to actual content writing. Many kudos to the team for this application ingeneral and for the consistent and careful development. Looking forward to the Panda version and what it might entail.
… I really miss the ability to search for specific text in the MindMaps, like you can on the website
