MochiKanji Reviews

GLITCHED.

It looks nice, I love the UI but its so glitchy its unusable. Everytime I type, it doubles my letters! Like I type “m” once and it types out “mm” automatically. Its not my keyboard since this doesnt happen on any other app. I would love to use it but the duplication of my letters makes this unusable

Seemed promising, but…

I’m going to be honest here and say I didn’t give this app a real chance. I figured I’d still share my feedback so the developers can take it into consideration if they see value in it. The first time I tried to open it, the app kept getting stuck on the loading screen. This happened for a few days but I tried it again today and to my surprise, it worked. After a brief loading screen I was greeted with…music? I’m really stunned that someone made the decision to have music continuously play in a learning app, of all things. Very bizarre choice. Music is also quite annoying, but that’s subjective. I started browsing around to find the options so I can mute the music and the app just froze on me. This feels like a sign. It was not meant to be. Immediately uninstalled. May be good, but I feel like I’ve already put in a good amount of effort given that there are tons of other kanji learning apps in the App Store.

Amazing App!

This app helps you remember by continually flipping the cards through all aspects of the language; hiragana, katakana, kanji and romaji. I feel that kanji is especially super important to know/memorize because that’s what will help with reading/understanding the most.

Terrible Free Version

Lots of little bugs, wildly excessive notifications (sometimes more than 20/day). The free version of this app actively works to push you away. They set arbitrary time-limits, which they claim is so that you can practice within an optimal window of learning but really you’re just locked out from using it if you don’t pay. It starts with a couple hours and each time you practice that lock-out grows but they constantly send notifications reminding you to practice when you’re not able to. Often, you’ll only be able to practice one or two words a day and then be locked out. I deleted the app when that time out grew to being locked for over 12 days.

Awesome

Very disappointing

I have used many apps to help learn Japanese but this is the most disappointing. Every time I open it I find that I have to wait longer & longer to learn new words. It is currently & 66 hrs which is useless to me. I am removing it.

I’m so relieved to find an app to practice using hiragana especially.

Hi! I’m trying to learn Japanese again. I’ve taken Japanese class at an intermediate level back in college. I like how this app helps me learn new words!
