NDI HX Camera FAQ
Is NDI HX Camera free?
NDI HX Camera is not free (it costs 148.00), however it doesn't contain in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is NDI HX Camera legit?
🤔 The NDI HX Camera app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
There is this app which costs money, and then there is CaptureCast which is free. I paid for this app, then I find out there is a free version that is exactly the same. From the same developer!!
I mean it does what it does. No hassle. Nothing to complain about other than finding out there is a free version from the same developer after I bought the paid version. 🤷🏻♂️
Audio not captured in OBS Studio
Cannot record audio on OBS Studio
No Image Stabilzation
I was hoping to use this in a situation where I need image stabilization. Unfortunately it does not seem like the camera supports Apple built-in image stabilization, which is a total bummer. Perhaps I’m missing something, but I don’t see any options for it.
Missing a few key features for me but useful nonetheless
The NDI camera app is extremely useful and powerful.
I use it in a wide variety of situations, including as a WebCam.
The only things missing are the ability to use the volume controls of the phone to zoom in and out. This would make using it as my WebCam thousand times easier as I can just hit the hardware volume keys to control the zoom.
Another missing feature is the ability to select frame rates currently it is locked to 30fps with no way to change this.
Works well with NDI 5.5
Seems to connect faster and hold a connection better than previous NDI. If you are having issues with NDI performing inconsistently make sure your devices are only on your 5G network and aren’t switching to the 2g one.
Grossly overdue for an update
NDI v5? Etc
Overall good but less configurable
There are only 3 options for quality level. The quality is not documented clearly. For example, highest quality on iPhone 11 streams 4K 30fps.
I want to have Full HD 60 fps but I cannot find that option.
Lock you at 30fps
It stated on they website that this tool can do 4k at 60 fps, however it lock you at 30 fps regardless of the pixel density you choose. Also there is no way to use a wired connection from you phone to you computer. Real waste of money.
Is not working
Please don’t spend your money in this app is not working, 1 start is too much for this app
It works, but it does have latency.
Simple to install and configure. However, it had about 1 second of latency on a iPhone 8 Plus into vMix with wireless router just a few feet away-no other traffic. App bandwidth settings don’t matter.
