NetGalley Shelf Reviews

Can We Request for Landscape Mode?

Khal Grego on

Philippines

Is it possible that the app can work in landscape mode? This will make it easier for us to read books on our phones.

Add a search feature!

CS.22 on

United States

The e-reader needs a search feature, so you can search for a word or phrase within the ebook you’re reading. Makes it much easier to go back and find things for writing reviews, without needing to bookmark every page.

Not user friendly

369Sunny on

This app is difficult for to work with. While reading there is no interactive menu to help navigate the book. There is no way to access the home menu it table of contents, no bookmark, and no way to save your place between devices. It would be so helpful to have at least some maneuverability to ease the use. It isn’t much more than a saved document in a word processor.

Now I get it

Magicalhands08 on

OK, this app is stupid. It doesn’t connect with the website and the books that I’ve gotten approved for Audible are not available. I don’t know where they are but I have two books that I am ready to listen to and they’re not there and it is a pain in the to get your books from NetGalley to Amazon you have to know how to use it or how to transfer and the directions are ridiculous. At first I thought the website and the app were doing great and I couldn’t understand why people were giving such bad reviews about the app but now I get it. I hope they fix the communication between the app and the website and between app and website and Kindle soon.

Worst book app ever

Come on NetGalley this is ridiculous you are linked the the biggest best publishers in the world and this app of yours is absolute garbage!!!

Netgalley is great! This app isn’t though

sodapopprinces on

I’ve had books that are expired still show up. Any time I try to highlight anything the the WHOLE app freezes making it hard to select and remember portions I want for my reviews. The app is so simple yet hard to use at first. Definitely not intuitive. If possible, I recommend sticking to the website

It works and isn’t terrible

Edyboo on

I don’t have any true cons for this app. It works as advertised and gets the job done. It is basic and a little dated and clunky for a reading and listening app, but why does it need to be fancier? I do wish it showed percentage complete without opening the book, though. I also wish there was an accompanying Apple CarPlay app and a homepage widget for my phone. I haven’t had any glitches. Not sure why this is rated so low.

Good but needs work

I wish NetGalley app would sync from one device to another. I also wish it was easier to rate and review a book.

Only Good to Read/Download books

Nia2125 on

United States

All you can do on this app is read the books/download (and send to kindle if you have one). Cannot request new books, cannot see books that you requested previously, cannot see books you were denied for & worst of all you cannot post reviews through the app.

Upgrade
