An okay but not great iOS app.
I used Newsify for many years (mostly due to inertia) but a few things consistently annoyed me:
- Try scrolling through a zoomed-in article in the web reader. When you want to move to the left, the app interprets this swipe as a move backwards and kicks you back out the the app view of the article.
- General inconsistency between ways of navigating back. When a few links deep in a web view I expect the back swipe to get me to the previous page, not to leave the web view.
- Links to anchors inside the article generally don’t work within the in-app view.
- When the app reloads in the background, you lose your place in the article. Especially bad for long articles.
- This I just noticed after switching to another reader app: no way to export feeds, neither in bulk nor individually. I can see the URL of a given feed but can’t even copy it. Hard to not view this as an intentional decision to make it harder for users to switch.
Remove ads purchase removed?
There’s no longer a way to remove ads, aside from paying for an expensive subscription.

A Brand New Newsfeed
This app has taken the best part of most current social media sites and combined them into one. A real news feed. Combined into one, the app looks gorgeous and is so simple to use.
I've given it 5 stars for this reason. All mainstream news sources (and completely non-mainstream to be honest) show up in a tiled format like a futuristic newspaper front page. The only drawback (and it's not worth losing a star over) is that not every site shows thumbnails. These are sites that target more niche markets like comics and games. I'm hoping this can be fixed in future updates because the thumbnails not only add a lot visually to the feel of the app but on quick glances, certain images stand out that would encourage clicking an article as much as the headline alone.
Thank you so much for the work put into this app, it's one of the best app's I've ever gotten and very soon, I'll be getting the premium version because I already know that it's worth it.
