NYT Audio Reviews

Excellent content but some frustrating functionality

tarzanasj on

United States

While I really appreciate the content ( really enjoy Ezra Klein, Matter of Opinion, the Athletic, and Hard Forkand I listen daily to Headlines and the Daily), the functionality of the queue is frustrating. It does allow you to resequence the order that the articles are to play; but then it later (sometimes almost immediately) it undoes the order that was input.

Great functionality

discriminating music fan on

United States

The app is smooth and easy to navigate. Adding and deleting audio is simple and intuitive. Very easy to manage my following and intermittent listening. I love the alerts that seem to learn my interests and suggest good listening options. A wonderful addition to my NYT reading experience. Thanks so much.

I gave up

MissinPeter on

United States

Too hard to figure out how to rewind or ff in the moment. I’ve finally just followed the nyt podcasts I like in the iphone app. (Which is actually a real slam.) too bad, because i liked being able to have two queues, able to switch to news podcasts while they were still relevant. But it was not to be.

Great App but Inherited some issues from Audm

HelenD A on

United States

I use this app everyday, and was happy for its development after the acquisition of Audm, which I also was a paid user of. However, it seems to have inherited a bug from Audm that is a little frustrating. In broad strokes, the queueing / “Up Next” function is often buggy, either replaying or failing to delete previously finished / skipped / deleted audios or overriding the Queue for the next available in the suggested feed. It’s annoying and there’s no clear fix or workaround. FWIW, I also am against the use of AI voices in speech to text for reading articles. I wish users could opt out of this entirely on the app.

Automated voice readings

mookisan on

United States

I loved the carefully curated articles of Audm but these new automated readings of articles are painful to listen to, plus the NYTIMES app is buggy. I will unsubscribe as soon as my current subscription runs out.

Good presentation of news

YetAnotherSQL on

United States

I sometimes wish for more news content but this app does a good job presenting the content that I can select. The app allows speed changes, volume changes, and easy reply and navigation. NYT Audio does glitch occasionally including spontaneous app closures. Those glitches can be frustrating because they cut off content, usually in the middle of a presentation, with no easy way to get back to near the point of interruption.

Never knew her

Glad I can learn about such interesting things

You’re forcing me to update iOS for this?

KHASL on

United States

None of my other apps have forced this, not even essentials like banking. Why? I guess I won’t be using it for a while.

Disappointed in it’s execution

Jewel’s Mom on

United States

App is very glitchy. NYT can do better for it’s subscribers.

Love It

Monterey Susan on

United States

NYT Audio helps me start my day by listening to the top REAL news of the day. In the shower or the car, I can choose the articles I wouldn’t have the time to sit down & read.
