Very disappointing editorial

Always Furious on

New Zealand

I joined the Herald online as I hoped to read articles that were educational and interesting. I was fed up with our local Christchurch Press for its very left wing articles and cartoons - some were insulting! l no was seeking more balance to what I read including proper news reporting and not the personal opinions of journos!! I am a middle of the road reader who hates extremism and radical views that divide people. I was, therefore, very disappointed to read your weekend Editorial criticising the current government for cancelling the separate Maori health authority, giving local councils and ratepayers the opportunity to democratically decide on Maori Wards, the change to the law regarding part Maori children to be fostered by a caring family other than part Maori and the possibility of a debate about the treaty principles. I consider this article to be the opinion of a radical journalist with no common sense. Apart from anything else, this country is too poor to operate two health authorities. If I was part Maori, I would feel embarrassed at the way they are being depicted - hopeless and helpless! Democracy is working in the respect that there is a higher proportion of part Maori in local and central government than they represent overall. Doesn’t that tell you something? Is it possible for you to write truthful facts and perhaps give some thought to lol how the problems of child abuse, gangs, and prison numbers could be solved? Perhaps your journalists need a shot of common sense? Oh, I forgot, it was dead and buried years ago!!

Supporting Hobson’s Pledges misinformation was a huge own goal.

Please don’t go the way of Stuff

no names. wth on

The Herald has managed to stay reasonably middle of the road with its articles and opinions, unlike stuff which is firmly left/woke and moving further to the left. It was then very disappointing to see the Heralds reaction to the Hobsons choice ad, and its refusal to run anymore. I have nothing to do with Hobsons choice but do not want to see small minority groups or political agendas influencing another NZ news outlet in any direction . We are rapidly running out of any independent thought in NZ media. Please don’t go the way of stuff

I find it disrespectful that ads are being displayed in this section and particularly the Legacy ad that can’t be deleted ! Thank you for the opportunity to comment. Rod MacNeil

It’s become a right wing mouthpiece

mkan331 on

New Zealand

Whilst it’s good to have a broad spectrum of political views in the press, nz herald has taken a big step to the right running prominent ads for the Don Brash’s extreme right party. It’s not really a source of reliable news anymore.

Premium not worth it

Tilleybean on

New Zealand

Despite paying for the premium service, we still have to endure ads before watching any video ..the current one being for Dai Henwood’s TV show. The video’s aren’t what you expect, the y seem to run one “recap video” at a time. Click on a new news feature, you get the same video you’ve already watched. Lots of reports on social media posts. Some of the more interesting articles are links to paywalled publications that ask for further subscription. Poor value overall.

Too many ads for a premium service

Shanikwa-Marika on

Too many damn ads. Paying for premium should remove them.

Adverts

As a paying subscriber I should not have to see adverts whenever I open a video.
