GoTodo Tehtävät Reviews

They said ‘bye bye, be gone’ to me

Travelingjake on

With this last update, I can no longer open the app. Nor can I ‘update’ it, even though it was previously working. So, I’ve deleted it from all my devices.

Huge battery hog on iPad!

Phudpucker on

United States

I’ve been using the Herald paid subscription for quite a few years now, and I keep hoping the developers will realize the effect the app has on iPad battery life - but to no avail. I use MANY apps on my iPad (latest generation, latest OS), but one thing unique to the Herald is the way it drains the battery even when not in use. For example, if I read the Herald late in the day (I live in the US), then close the lid on the iPad when the battery shows (e.g.) 80% remaining, when I wake up in the morning and open the iPad the battery has usually dropped significantly - often as low as 10% remaining. The only way I can stop this happening is to force-quit the Herald app before closing the lid - which is not the case with the other apps I have loaded. I’ve tested this behavior by quitting all other apps except the Herald - then closing the lid and leaving it closed overnight. Sure enough the battery drains even though the iPad is closed. Seems like the Herald must be doing something non-standard in the background for this to happen - or maybe it’s just a Kiwi thing demanding constant attention. The other major bugbear is the moderation of comments, which is VERY inconsistent and VERY one-sided. Some quite offensive comments get through, but other reasonable comments get rejected with no explanation. I guess it comes down to which moderator is on shift at the time, and which political leanings they have. Either way, very frustrating.

Red banner and comments

Bellapup21 on

United States

Please get rid of the annoying red banner that keeps popping up ..even when you close it . Also in the app format, all comments don’t load. Way too many video/live/sliding ads and moving/sliding property ads. All of these are way too distracting when you just want to read the articles . The huge background ads are very annoying also. The Herald is the best news site and I don’t mind paying but it is getting almost unreadable with all the distractions. Thanks

As an expat kiwi I love being kept up to date.

The ads are very annoying.

The way they continually move is very trying when trying to read an article. We are already paying a subscription, so when do we get so many ads?

App broken after last update - signs out daily

MartianMonster on

United States

Since the last update, the app signed me out, even though I am a pain subscriber every single day sometimes several times a day. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, and nothing has changed it. This was never a problem for the last five years of my using the app. Also, while we’re at it, my biggest complaint is that I’m a subscriber, and I still have a ton of ads pushed at me.

Too much pushing NZME Products

LaKiwi on

United States

I subscribe to The Herald for news; not to know what Mike Hosking is doing on ZM. If I wanted that I’d listen to that station. Cross marketing your products tends to take you away from the centre of politics and to the right. I doubt if I will renew my subscription.

NZ Herald often first with foreign breaking news

QJDMD1954 on

United States

I read the NZ Herald from the USA. They frequently break news stories before many of the big news organizations. For example, they had printed a story on the October 7 Hamas attack before the BBC, CNN, NY Times, and WSJ. And the content was spot on.

What a joke

SkipML on

United States

It is laughable how the Herarld awards itself News App of the Year every year without fail in a New Zealand field of one entrant.

Terrible biased reporting

Constantly underwhelmed on

United States

I read this as insight into what is brainwashing my fellow Kiwis. Opinion pieces thinly veiled as reporting. What a daily disappointment.
