Ashamed as a GERMAN

Alexander the Cybercat on

United Kingdom

I am so ashamed about this technological library app implication that I had to write a poem about it. Why can’t they just get stuff done properly those Germans? Goethe I am at rage, this library again, it carries his name only, those Germans operating, in the “Zone of Interest” only they are not alone anymore, I feel still in the influence of a dictator, when I visit the Institute. Sitting at the desk, I feel they still behave like no brains, without shame and excuses it rains, from those showers. Writing these words, I feel like an engineer, but I think like a poet. Since Wernher left Peenemünde, for America and rose to Apollo, nothing changed, innovation was washed out in 1945. An easterly wind carried away the German poets, in the ashes and smoke of the war. The Goethe and Schiller, followed by Brecht and Böll, the Lost Honour, where is Katharina she never returned. Spit out the spirit of Blum, through the chimneys of history, in a country of Walther, his greener then green Vogelweide was the last one, to rest. Where are the German Poets of our time? To listen, to learn to comprehend, the rage for the library carries his name, so it tells you, you can’t listen to Brecht, The Browser is not on the List for the Streamers, it’s is not in your Recht, to listen to these words, these words of those poets, we lost in and will never listen to, as they missed the meadows, for the bunkers for a dictator, the beaches of bunkers, the stacks of history, we can never foretell. Then we branched our futures, from those Vogelweiden away, when will we find those green spring meadows of orchids, of coloured words of poetry again. At rage about the dis functionality of the German technology at the Goethe Institute, and its inability to serve the curious poets of yesteryear.

Jumps around randomly

This app is so unreliable. It often jumps to random locations within the audiobook. So much worse than Audible

Stopped working

I used to love this app but it just doesn’t work anymore , can’t get pages and info to load

Latest update makes book jump each time to beginning

Locira on

United Kingdom

There are several week points, many have been mentioned before, but now each time I either close the app, or even only minimise it, the book opens back at the beginning. I have tried this now with several books. The other thing I dislike, is that there is no record of which books I have borrowed in the past.

Keeps getting stuck and won’t load chapters

C77MR on

I mainly use the app to read German books to my child. It worked fine for a few weeks and now it stops loading the next pages after a chapter or further into the book. Very annoying for a 6 year old and therefore makes it useless to me. It would be great to see where you could get support to resolve the issue.

Extremely slow, messy interface

Hopefully it will improve with future iterations

Not great

I think the app got better over the years but it’s annoying that you can’t return audiobooks early. I’m often stuck with an audiobook I don’t like. I should be able to return it so someone else can read it

You need to login every time you use the app.

Really badly done in my opinion. You can listen to audiobooks but they are weirdly cut into 2.35 min junks and also it logs you out of the app automatically, which is super unnecessary and annoying. Could really be improved quite a lot .... maybe you should look to apps like audible as inspiration ...

Lots of room for improvement

elsmie on

Navigation is poor. Chapters are not numbered, so you don’t know where you are, which is particularly unfortunate because frequently, when you open the app, it has jumped back to a chapter near the beginning. It’s difficult to find back to where you were. The 30-second forward/back is disabled. If you miss a bit or didn’t understand, you have to listen to the whole chapter again. The app crashes frequently. I would never spend money on this app, and if it was commercial it couldn’t afford to be this bad.

Worked OK

MichelleBucks on

United Kingdom

A bit confusing to work out as you need to have different log ins for the app and for Adobe as well. Was confused about the language, as it suggests you may want to “lend” books, until I realised it meant “borrow”. It’s wrong in a number of places. It downloads things that can’t be read on device, and it’s a pity it doesn’t tell you before you download it. As of August 2019, it still says you have lent a book rather than borrowed it.
