Why can’t I update this app!

This is extremely irritating. I purchased this app for 34$! Now I can’t get the update, and it is saying that I have to repurchase it. Terrible customer experience. The developers need to answer my email immediately. Unbelievable. Does one not understand how expensive the world is for the lower/ and medium classes right now. Not to mention a regularly hungry student!

7 yrs later , another reviewer feels cheated

This is a learners dictionary The number of entries is limited. I now use the FREE DICTIONARIES which have more entries, far fuller definitions,etymology and useage. Neither do they respond to enquiry This is the first poor review I have given in decades. Very sad, and a very poor showing of an erstwhile flagship production.

Sure it's expensive but it's worth it! The definitions are excellent. The sounds are good too. Thanks!

Fabulous resource

As a teacher, this is a great, quick source to help my students improve their vocabulary and understanding of the language. The ease of the program makes it a delight to use when preparing the "Word of the Day" because you can quickly learn parts of speech, an easily understood definition, etymology, and synonyms. It even gives idioms from other countries which are thought-provoking, and sometimes humorous. Worth the price for me!

crashes consistently crashing in iPhone4s

installed on iPhone4s with iOS5 — This app does not work properly. The input keys hang part-way through inputing a word in the Search field… then the app crashes. Changing languages is painful for how many times the app has to be restarted before the change takes hold… then when reverting back to English, the app crashes. I have not managed to define a single word after 30 minutes of trying. I guess Oxford is trying to send us back to their glory days of the Dark Ages… have to used a paper dictionary. This app is not fit to be offered for free.

Needs work more.

Paid as much as a paper one, however, the content of this app is much less than paper one. Kind of cheat.

Honest Reviewer

Most ridiculous update yet. What's with the audio opening up QuickTime to hear the pronunciation? It's very annoying. You should have left the audio part intact.
