Like another who has reviewed I bought this app for a woping $50 something many years back. Now your asking me o purchase it again. Everything you have provided me with about how to go about re downloading does not work. $50 something more dollars down the drain ! I do not recommend this app. What’s worse is I had all thesaurus and dictionary words saved in folders.
I’ve owned this App for 7 years and love it. Pronounces each word for you. Wildcard searches are great for crosswords. Easy hyperlink between Dictionary & Thesaurus, a dream to use. App support are so helpful too. I’ve never given them a rap, so I thought it was about time.
For about a year the app wouldn’t open. I would always get a message from Apple that the license was expired. Thanks to the help service Center and their patience with me it is working again and I’m happier with it than ever before. Especially to get the Daily Word. So if you are having trouble with it don’t give up, just ask for help.
An essential reference point for so much information. If you have an enquiring mind this is a must 🧐🤓
To be fair the most outstanding feature on this app is the sound, being able to hear how a word is pronounced. Helpful to my grands when they are needing to learn something unfamiliar. In saying that this app has been uploaded to all our devices making it somewhat worthy of its price although if there was another app offering this feature without the hefty price tag I would definitely recommend it. And the fact that the app could be a lot more friendly to iPhone iPad functionality being available to the screen page where the word of inquiry is instead of flicking in and out of pages/screens to get your query resolved would help it out a lot more. For the hefty price and the awkward functionality I give it 4 stars... I can get past the word definitions and thesaurus definitions and probably would still give it 5 stars. Actually I am even happy with the thesaurus
I've used this app for years now and found it extremely useful for my proofreading job. Heavens, we'd all like the multiple volumes of the real thing but this does the job admirably for me and there is always Google for any word that isn't included in the app. Best app on my iPad.
Can't update Costly, doesn't work with iOS 8. Don't buy this app, there are plenty of cheaper option
Very expensive, only to find the app doesn't work on iPhone 6. Touching the search tab closes the app.
Because my previous review was deleted due to alleged TOS violations, I'd like to reword it. This app has a built-in anti-piracy mechanism which posts, without the user's consent, with their Twitter account, "outing" them as a software pirate. This system recently had a bug which caused this system to spring into action for paying customers like myself, which also, for a time, rendered the app useless until the "bug" was fixed. As a result, I recommend people avoid apps by this developer.
I wanted a dictionary, decided get the best for IOS. Chose Oxford deluxe without investigating, thinking that it was the full Oxford dictionary (price helped with that assumption), It's not, its the one volume Oxford dictionary of English. There are many other more reasonably priced dictionaries to choose from.
