This was my message to Apple Support :- Ok but there needs to be governance on apps in the store. If someone declines subscription that should be it. Not 2 emails and no option to cancel !!
I have owned this app for years (and it’s predecessor before it for an even longer time before it stopped working) but recently it’s been barely useable, creaking and groaning and freezing and grinding to a halt mid-scroll. I’m running the latest version of iOS (16.6 at time of review) on an iPhone 13 Pro. Frankly , someone needs to oil the wheels before this croaks!
It’s a brilliant learning tool /app to have on the phone for anyone learning English, very practical. Getting the notification of a new word every day and being able to listen to the two different pronunciations the British and the N.American’s is pure genius. It also gives one the opportunity to repeat the new word as many times as is necessary. If you don’t have the time to go and look for a new word every day you will always have one ready for you in the notifications list to click and learn. Apart from learning that new word It’s the best way to build up vocabularies, easy and fast!! A good investment and good value for money too!! It’s simply the best way of learning I have come across with since I have started learning this language! I highly recommend it.
I use the OED quite a lot in my job, so I have no problem paying for a subscription. However, I would much rather pay a monthly subscription than a weekly one.
The ads are a tad aggressive there, don’t ya think lads? I get you want people pay 20 a month and that’s your way of forcing it, but getting blocked by an ad every single time I open the app, and every 2 clicks is a bit excessive. I won’t subscribe out of spite.
Not very up to date , lacking a lot of word’s and it’s not free, Farlex free Dictionary is much better in many way’s.
This app is very much easier to use and I definitely recommend it.
Hi, When I have found a meaning of one word, if at the interface I could just type my keyboard then it directly goes in to the search bar then the user’s experience would be better. So I don’t have a tap the search bar every time when I need to search for a new one. By the way I am using iPad with keyboard. Regards
