The moment Pantone and Adobe parted ways, due to corporate greed, Pantone lost a lot. This Pantone Connect solution is really a c-grade approach at bridging the gap. It is clunky and brings another set of issues that have to be dealt with. Not to mention the perpetual hand in your pocket. The split has generated a lot of anger amongst industry professionals. It’s provided the catalyst and the hunger for an alternative to Pantone. Should a new colour system appear in the future, and one that seamlessly integrates with Adobe, I will happily jump ship.
I have the newest iPhone 2022 model and it says not compatible when I tried to use the colour match card that I recently purchased to use with this app. I literally waited until buying a new phone to purchase the colour match card (because my old phone was not supported) and now can’t use it with the brand new 2022 iPhone. Cool. Update your software please!
I bought the Pantone card and this hoping to assess the colour of dyed wool sweaters and the resulting matches are extremely inaccurate, not even slightly correct. It seems to err on the side of the much darker option. This may be a result of the camera phone and associated attempt to calibrate. It may be that this is unsuitable for a surface such as a tightly knit wool sweater. I tried numerous samples and in all cases the assessment of the darker colours (like a navy blue) were closer matches to the actual compared to lighter colours, which were not even close. I gave this as much as 3 stars because this may be an error with textured surfaces. My rating would be 1 star otherwise as this is too inaccurate to serve a meaningful purpose.
Cannot sign in, no matter what I try it says “Oops. Something went wrong. Please reload this page and try again”. It never comes good.
Why release a product that appears to be unable to download. It’s a shame that we can’t use this service on the website or app.
Sign in and it goes straight back to the login page. Had same problem on their website so thought the app would fix the problem but it has the exact same issue.
As soon as I open the app it says “oops something went wrong, please reload this page” I keep trying to reload, but still not working sadly
Why release a product that appears to still be in development? No mention of the fact this is a pre-release product, broken link when I click to purchase the Color match card - no-one I’ve spoken to even knows what that is. Plenty of potential but not market ready yet - also no clear definition of what the differences are between Pantone Connect and Pantone Studio, there seems to be a fair bit of overlap (and why need two separate accounts?).
I tried to use this today for the first time on an iPhone 12. It requires logging in to use the app in any capacity. I signed up, but was unable to login - not on wifi, not on cellular. No vpns were active. I wish they’d delist their apps that cannot work. I think it’s worse for a brand to keep something published that cannot work for anyone than to leave it up. It’s got ghost town vibes, and Pantone as a company is very much still around.
