App won’t open

Downloaded pass app now multiple times. Just gets stuck on the opening page, says ‘getting data’ but nothing happens. Maybe the last big fix fixed nothing

Absolutely fine

I was a bit put off seeing the reviews, but it was my only option while travelling south Cambodia. Honestly, it was fine although I did take some precautions. I would have my phone with the app & route open as I’d greet and confirm my driver, I think perhaps that kept them from going off track. Also, the app tells you how much the trip will cost, so I would prepare the exact fare ready to hand over when we arrived. The driver then confirms that you paid with cash via app.

Scam

I used this to get from Oneders hostel in Sihanoukville to the airport. Should have been half an hour journey costing 23000 real according to the app. The driver ended the journey on the app ten minutes in and pretended he didn’t know where we were going. I had to use Google maps to guide him but was scared my phone would get robbed because I know this is a thing here. He took us down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere and his tuk tuk broke down twice. Turned out to be a dead ended so we had to go back and go through it again. I felt very vulnerable. Eventually we got to the airport but he charged me 35000 real and journey took 1 hour.

Not worth the memory on your phone.

You book a trip on the app and agree a fixed price, but as soon as you get going on your journey the driver will ask you for extra money and if you don’t agree to pay the extra fee they’ll just start driving slower slower which just makes you nervous. My trip was 50 dollars and he want an extra 15, They also don’t follow the route which it shows on the app . I just got out off the taxi at that point as it was meant to be a 120km long trip. If your in the north off Cambodia use Grab you’ll have no issues with them but Grab isn’t available in the south yet so my advice is just use the bus company’s or walk as it’s the buses are around 80% cheeper. I only booked the taxi as there was no buses for the next two days. You may find honest drivers so you could try it but if you start to feel like your getting hustled just get out off the taxi. But honestly I wouldn’t even bother as it happens over and over to tourist all the time.

Never have I ever felt like I needed to review something

Passapp includes taxi drivers, that will almost always scam you. It’s tracker is not accurate, taxi drivers take forever to pick you up and will almost certainly ask you to wait extra time. If you have a non Asian name they will ask for more money off you. One taxi driver said he could not collect me from a supermarket as he was banned from it. Today whilst leaving to get a ferry to Koh Rong, our driver asked for an additional three dollars. He then asked for an additional one dollar to go through a gate. Would highly recommend using Grab but unfortunately in some parts of Cambodia you only have the choice of passapp. Also don’t use Tuk Tuk drivers because they over price way too much.
