I've been using the apple original one (called Preview?), but this is so much better and still allows me to work within the iCloud File management system, unlike the other apps (like notability, goodnotes) which save the files their own storage (separate file systems). the free version is super enough.
Ever since color monitors became available, I have been tweaking my desktop environments to avoid black text on white backgrounds. I have floaters which drive be bonkers when trying to read. Nowadays, "dark-mode" has been facilitated, and most of the time, a simple selection is all that is needed. Except for WEBpages and PDF files. On the Mac, Apple steadfastly refuses to add a simple "dark-mode invert video" for the Preview app, claiming that PDF was designed to permit the publisher to dictate the resentation. I agree with this entirely, when it comes to layout, spacing, fonts, point-size, etc, but when it comes to blasting my eyeballs with excessive white pixels, I do not agree. Apple seems to think that they can offer an entire screen "reverse video" toggle and that a) works and b) is sufficient. I find it fails both. Today, I discovered PDF Viewer. The dark-mode option is subscription-only, but someone has to pay for development, etc. I do not expect everything to be free, and find the cost to be entirely reasonable. The only additional option I would like would be a quicker way to toggle the reverse-video setting. IE: occasionally, I would like to view an image in the document in non-reversed-video. A key binding (both for macOS and iPad keyboard) to toggle the reverse video (View>Appearance>...) would be appreciated.
YES THANKS
I’m so tired of needing a simple program or app but to use and understand how to use it it seems you need a degree in computer science or something. What’s needed is something in laymen’s terms that is easy to use but this is not it, I only wanted to be able to view a pdf file when it’s sent to me on my iPhone but it’s just not that simple and put simply it’s so annoying that it becomes infuriating to the point I just can’t be bothered with it anymore
For my business, I confidently rely on PDFpen Pro on the Mac but I am less confident in PDFpen on the iPad because It is buggy and hasn’t been updated for ages. So I am trying PDF Viewer. Although even the Pro version is currently less powerful than PDFpen, its developers are working on new features.
You can do so much with the free version of the software, much more than what you can do with other apps such as Adobe PDF. The most features in terms of PDF editing that I have found in a free app on the App Store.
Terrible user experience. Otherwise, a good app.
Great App
This app has reasonable functionality but it's obscured by completely incomprehensible icons and dreadful documentation.
