Peanut App Reviews

App is ok as long as you turn off notifications

Millenial Reader on

United Kingdom

Peanut’s concept is brilliant and you really benefit from word of mouth wisdom between mums as well as making some new local mum friends. The app’s notifications though are intrusive and misleading trying too hard to hook you back into the app. For example, when you’ve clicked on the notifications menu where the addictive red indicator sits showing you there’s a new notification the app won’t make the red dot disappear after you’ve seen your notification updates nooo… it stays there so that every time you open the app you check your notifications thinking you’ve got new ones when you haven’t. You have to click onto each and every notification for red dot to go away. As if that’s not enough they go further to try and keep you on the app. If you haven’t tapped on your notifications they will also force a notification preview onto your screen every single time you open the app which even appears if you left the app screen! The only way to stop this happening repeatedly is to tap onto that preview and read whatever it is that triggered the notification. It’s like they designed the app without understanding the purpose of notifications thinking they can use them as a marketing tool. So I suggest you mute the app if don’t want to end up deleting it out of frustration.

Broken

CH-96 on

United Kingdom

Worked for the first two days then decided to completely lock me out and say there was an “error” each time I tried to log in. I’ve tried to make a new account and the same message still comes up!

Like Tinder for parents

Portok@l1 on

United Kingdom

I joined to help find parents in my area. The idea is nice, but I find the app a bit awkward to use. The waves and the time limit on sending a message are odd. I presume people using this app have their hands full with children and other commitments, so why the time limit? I have only been using it for two weeks, so yet to meet people in person.

An app for mothers that protects men over women

RebeccaBee88 on

United Kingdom

I made a comment in defence of women’s rights over men who pretend to be women and have had my account practically banned because I refuse to accept their terms of protecting men over vulnerable post partum mothers. I have deleted the app rather than accept this. Please contact me to delete my account because I can no longer do so without accepting your hideous terms that stifle women’s right to their opinions and facts.

Toxic Environment

Ellhou20 on

United Kingdom

I thought this app would be a nice way to socialise with other mums and a good way of feeling supported by other mums, it was anything but. I was only on the app for a day and I found that Mums belittled other mums and were certainly not supportive of one another. I felt like instead of being supported I was subjected to negativity and rudeness. I would not recommend getting this app unless you want to be criticised by other mothers.

Amazing app for connecting with women like me!

MaisaVirginia on

United Kingdom

I’m pregnant and live far from family and friends, so finding support has been challenging. Peanut has been an absolute game-changer for me! It gave me the opportunity to connect with amazing women in my area who are going through similar experiences. The matching feature is fantastic and really helped me meet people with similar interests. The app is beautifully designed, easy to use, and makes you feel less alone in this journey. Highly recommend it to any expecting moms or women looking for meaningful connections!

Love it but….

twinmumscot on

United Kingdom

I love this app but can’t log in to the app most of the time because there’s a security notification that I can’t get past so someone has messaged me but I can’t get in to see it. Also there’s no way to make any group conversations completely private which it would have been lovely to have. I was hoping to make a properly safe space for some stuff and you can’t.

Trick you into subscribing

K Sammy on

United Kingdom

Trick you into subscribing, don’t allow you any access to the app but funny enough once the app is deleted and you log back in there’s no pressure of subscribing and all of a sudden you have the option of closing the window offering the subscription! Would never download this app again

Notifications are irritating and excessive

L202-4 on

United Kingdom

This app would really benefit from greater control over the type of notifications a user can choose to receive. The notifications already received repeat CONSTANTLY and are almost impossible to mute because they are pushed with different titles every time, ie a post by a specific user on a message board is one type whilst by another user is a different type so muting the first does not mean the second will be muted. They can be very stressful and fear inducing at what is obviously the most vulnerable time in an expecting person’s life who might not want to be notified, say, about people discussing their birth horror stories, or suspicions about their partners, or whether or not their LO is ill. I’ve (unfortunately) paid for this app and will not rate it higher than 1 star until I see notifications management prioritised and addressed.

Annoying notifications

LynseyA84 on

United Kingdom

It seemed like a good app and concept at first. However today I was added to 2 groups automatically and then was bombarded with notifications. I switched the notifications off in the local group that I’d been added to, and I left the ‘England’ group that I’d been added, but despite this I still continued to receive notifications from both groups. Decided to delete my account, because if I deactivate all notifications in my phone settings for the app then I could miss messages. Too annoying!
