PhotoSync Reviews

Hard to figure out

Crrg223 on

United States

Trying to transfer photos but I needed to use a private Wi-Fi network? I’ve no idea how to set that up. What a pain. Wi-Fi is secure enough. I don’t need to change settings to get a stupid app to work that I have to pay for every month. How annoying. The developer, and they replied to my complaint, was not happy that I left a bad review here instead of contacting support. So I contacted support and then they never responded. I was able to figure out that issue about the Wi-Fi, but then there were other problems that I couldn’t figure out and they never responded.

Works fine for Photoprism

This works fine to sync my photos to Photoprism, but there is a pretty big feature gap coming from Android. I run an always on VPN to my home network, so it’d be nice to at least have the option to immediately autotransfer when a new photo is taken like the Android version of this app. Also, it seems odd that I paid $7 for lifetime access on Android and it’s $25 on iOS. I get that developer licenses for Apple aren’t free, but that seems like it’s overcompensating

Works great when paid

It doesn’t sync to anything

I tried everything and it doesn’t work. I’m wondering if good rating are just scam

Nothing worked

Spent over an hour tapping ever pic to transfer to my desktop computer from my phone. You should have to just slide your fingers n get over the pics as you move down. Totally ridicules for moving thousands of pic. After I got done nowhere was there a button to start the process of moving the pics.

Seriously Unimpressed

JustApolyglot on

The concept for photo and video transfers is rather simple, but PhotoSync developers have this process all over the map. They don't properly display nor distinguish between source and destination within their program. They have a wealth of options, and the capabilities appear to be there, but the app is kludgy and they have made it more complex than is necessary. They claim that the wi-fi interface and file transfer is fast...but I disagree. I invariably have to put the IP address in the browser and download the zipped file...and it's not fast. I have had the program crash during wi-fi attempts routinely, and my system is state of the art. I also connected via USB port, and it's still fercockt. I cannot imagine how it's gotten the rating it shows.

Awesome app and great support!

I’ve been using the app almost a year now to sync photos to my NAS. Very reliable. When I contacted their support with some questions, they responded within a day and resolved my questions. Highly recommended

Can’t handle larger iPhone photo libraries

SolidSnake0891 on

United States

I got the subscription to this based on a co-workers review of the product. I have to say after two days of using this I am dissatisfied enough to want to uninstall it. When transferring a large library (Recent album for me) it does not handle files with identical names. That means if you took more than 10,000 photos and your photo numbers started rolling over again, you are bound to have duplicate names like “IMG_5312.HEIC”. PhotoSync doesn’t understand that, and will just copy over the files (using SMB to transfer to a network folder) without telling you. Not good for a program that is meant to back up your photos. I’ll be looking for any other option for backing up my photos. There are also other interface issues I didn’t like.

Family sharing is a scam

Curt Warfield on

Paid full price for lifetime premium because it family sharing was advertised but it doesn’t work

Awesome app, and they offer a lifetime license

Nwpulverized on

I love the app. Simple to use to sync my photos to my photoprism instance that I self host. I LOVE that they offer a lifetime license. I am so sick of subscriptions.
