Principium is the official study aid for Wheelock’s Latin, 7th Edition. The app follows the text chapter by chapter, helping you to practice the grammatical forms for the model words, as well as all of the vocabulary. Macrons are optional, and macron entry is extremely simple: just enter a capital letter. Principium also has a handy glossary of the entire Wheelock’s vocabulary.

Been using Wheelock for a couple of years now. This app has proved a vital part of my daily Latin routine - I use it to check vocab and forms, test myself, etc. I even use it when I’m bored on the train or waiting for someone; it’s incredibly easy to use. Thanks to the developers; you’ve released something incredibly helpful.
Bug
App will not scroll to the bottom of the page in the vocabulary section
what’s the point?
this does nothing the book doesn’t: nothing interactive, no quizzes or drills, nothing creative at all. why not make little memory games to identify gerunds or graphics/pics to help assoc vocab words or there’s just so many things this app fails at-just buy a notebook instead
A nice companion app
This is a very helpful addition to the Wheelock text. I love the glossary (especially the pronunciation!) and appreciate the form and vocabulary drills. It could use an update to fix overlapping windows, as data entry fields frequently obscure key information below.
Excellent companion to Wheelock
This is an excellent companion to Wheelock’s textbook. Vocab practice, exercises, sentences, all very nice to have to practice.
I do wish the developer would make it more IPad friendly. That is making it able to autorotate, so a keyboard can be used with the app.
As good as the book
This app is perfect for anyone trying to get there Latin off the ground. It provides a way to easily and efficiently review your Latin forms or vocabulary on the go.
Good app, just one annoying problem
Please allow a sideways view of the app! I cannot see the full definition of words with more than one meaning, such as cura, consilium, and many others. Other than that, it’s a fine app, and it gets the job done.
No complaints, only praise!
Could the app be better? Maybe. Are there issues? Possibly. Is it the best app for Latin? Definitely. I would be lost without this app.
Pretty Great!
Like others have stated before me, the present passive infinitive for the third conjugation is incorrect and chapters 26 and 27 do crash every time you attempt to open them. Other than that I really love this app and everything about it I hope the issues with the chapters get fixed!
FTR: I do not find the art in the app inappropriate. It is a mosaic of the ancient myth of Leda and the Swan.
Crashes in Chapters 26 & 27. Needs update.
The app crashes in Chapters 26 & 27. (I am using iOS 10.2.1.) This bug needs to be fixed!
My previous comment, which accompanied a 5-star review, is below.
An Indispensable App or Latin Learners!
I love this app. It has helped me with both paradigms and vocabulary.
My only criticism is that it will not work in landscape mode or with external keyboards. I use the app on my iPad, as well as my iPhone, and when I do I would like to use the keyboard, and that requires switching to landscape mode.
